01 Lexus security light flashing.

I have a 01 Lexus is200 which is refusing to start since the weekend, red security light is constantly flashing, engine is cranking but not starting almost as if there's no fuel or spark.

Red security light is continuously flashing but it is meant to stop flashing once the key is recognised by the car when it goes into ignition barrell, the light continues flashing even when key is inserted and I've tried locking and unlocking from inside and outside car. Remote central locking still works so fob battery is ok. I only have 1 key so can't try a spare unfortunately. Have disconnected battery but when reconnected problem still persists.

Any ideas what best remedy may be?
I can buy a new key, Ecu and barrel but then would have to get them programmed and change door locks etc. Does anyone know if it's possible to bypass the immobiliser system?

Have you got anything else on the key ring. If so, give it a try with the key on its own with no key ring.

Did you give it a few minutes when you disconnected the battery? I'd give it 30 before giving up on that.

I expect that the immobilizer is programmed to the ecu and can't be bypassed. It should be possible to get a replacement key (if it is the key that is at fault),but could be pricey.
