hmm am i alone here, i can't wear my 35's all day, yes they are comfortable but the actual noise cancellation sensation/feeling makes me want to give my ears a rest after a while - almost as if, if i don't take them off i will freak out! weird. great headphones in moderation though ;)

Have you tried switching off the noise cancelling for a bit and then back on ?

Can you do that on the QC35s?

I got that a few times when I used them first but it ceased after a few days.

Finally caved - after being close multiple times since December....

    Paddy

PS Parcel Motel seems to work out slightly cheaper between the VAT difference and the postage being a little less.

    Way too expensive;
    - warranty would be questionable / pain for new owner to use

    - They are not the model features on this deal

    - your add is misleading as you have found the most expensive store to compare to

    - you can buy the newer model for a small amount extra

    - I'm guessing you are trying to pull a fast one by having Bose exchange a faulty old model one, then flog it for an inflated price before you follow the guidance on this thread and buy a brand new version of the newer model

All in all poor effort at trying to flog your second hands goods

Jesus leave the Dude alone, Everyone on adverts.ie sets their prices 20% higher to get the right price. He'd take 200ish I'm sure, which isn't a bad price.

    Slightly off topic.

Would ANC headphones help with tinnitus or would they be discouraged?

I'm not sure they would help because they analyse sound coming in from outside and counter act that with opposing frequencies. Because tinnitus comes from damage within I don't think it would work. Could make it seem worse if all other sound from outside is quieted so the tinnitus is all you're hearing.

Now I'm not a sufferer or anything so I could be wrong.

Out of interest have you ever tried the snapping your fingers on the back of your head method? Apparently for some it works to give temporary relief. I read about it on Reddit a while ago. Hope this link works, I'm on mobile so forgive me if it's wrong.

    Hi
Does anywhere in around Dublin 1 stock the qc35 and the MDR-1000x. I'd like to try both side by side before purchasing.

    Cheers

Question for someone who is techie..

The cable socket on the headphones 35's isnt standard ? is there a converter to make it standard ?

Maybe I need to explain, the socket on the headset is smaller than a small phono socket..

How do you mean make it standard? It's a 2.5mm socket and the correct cable is supplied.

    3
    Making it a 3.5

I always thought there were two... the socket thats the same on say mobile phones, and the huge socket found on older sound systems..

    But why?

    But why?

Let me try and explain this better, the standard for headphones leads are 3.5 that almost all sockets on phones and MP3 players. I thought it was the industry standard.

The cable supplied with the BOSE 35s are in fact 3.5 on the end. so you can easily stick them into your laptop, or mp3 player..

The issue I have is the cables I already have are all standard, 3.5 each end...

The cable with the Bose are not.. they have a 3.5 on the end but they connnect to the headphones with a smaller size connector.

Not sure about a converter but theres a few tutorials online about converting fixed cable headphone into repalceable cables so id guess its doable -whether its a good idea or you want to undertake such a project is a differwnt question

Edit: is this what you want?

I got my QC35 last Thursday. I found the sound great..especially say for a movie...this morning was the first time wearing it paired with my Iphone on way ealking to work....could still hear the cars/ tyres on the road next to me. Im a little disappointed with the ANC as i thought this was a huge feature of this phone. Maybe im misjudging.

Different types of noises at different frequencies.

ANC does best at constant, base type frequencies, like the constant sound of an engine on an aircraft.

They don't perform as well for sharp, sudden noises, e.g. car horns and tyres.

Also they don't create complete silence, they just reduce the intensity of it, take them off and you might be surprised how much louder these noises sound without them on.

Personally I don't recommend or use ANC or sound isolating headphones when out and walking around, because it could be potentially dangerous (not hear a car coming, etc.).

They really are best suited to airplanes, followed by public transport and then office use.
