They must think we are all yokels who only listen to country and traditional music! I think there is room on the nationwide FM band for a niche station such as Nova or Classic Hits 4FM!

On Jukebox Hero this morning, Marty offered up Layla, while Conor offered up Drinking In LA by Bran Van 3000. Sounds like Drinking In LA won the vote but they played Layla anyway.

Should be shot for suggesting Drinking in LA in the first place!

Fleetwood Mac seems to be getting played a lot in last week or so, or just one song of Fleetwood Mac, I should say

They played Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast today. It was around lunchtime, I nearly spat out my tea in amazement. More of this please, Nova. I'm sure they're only breaking out the Maiden given the weekend that's in it, but one can hope.

Normally the only show you'll hear Maiden is on the Fri night rock show. Think Producer Clint would find Maiden too scary for him for during the day :D

This 1 in 10 promo that they are doing now. Where are Nova getting these figures? The population of Ireland at the last census is 4,761,865. This means that 476,186 are listening every day. Are they taking these figures from their online broadcasts or something else?

I normally have three different devices playing Nova at the one time (very old house with granite walls that WiFi struggles with) so do I count as 3 different listeners? Also have Nova as my phone alarm using TuneIn (because the Nova app doesn't do that.....or a sleep function).

I might be classed as a crank or being OCD but where are they getting the 1 in 10 figures?

There is a petition running on change.org to try and get Nova permission to broadcast on FM. I'd love to see it happening mainly cos most of my monthly broadband allowance usage is to Nova.

Finally.....would some bloody DJ just play 1 in 10!! It's a great song.

I presume it's 1 in 10 in their listenership area.

If it's 1.5m in greater Dublin, that gives 150k, which is around what they've had in previous polls.

I don't think you affect that figure at all unless you're polled.

I really like Radio Nova, more so now that TXFM is gone, however I think Pat Courtney is one of the most annoying if not the most annoying radio dj I've ever heard!!

I find myself reaching for the dial every time he speaks for more than 5-10 seconds!!

Started listening to Nova since the demise of TXFM and Today FM - love it. Got to hear a lot of the Saturday Soundtrack show with Peter Devlin this Saturday, best radio I have heard in Ireland for a long time - more new stuff and the classics were more from Pearl Jam etc than earlier 70's stuff, which suits me well.

Consider me a convert, great station

Was anyone listening to Pat James last night? He interviewed a singer, a woman with an Irish accent - maybe Donegal. Does anyone know her name or the name of her band?

That would be Mairead from Blackbird and Crow.....goes to show there is still some great music being made out there..the type nova really should be playing during the day

Yeah, it is a very good station. It's about the only music station I listen to any more. There's far more variety on it than any other station in Dublin too.

I sense a disturbance in the force. Run To The Hills played in the afternoon!

Listen to it regularly for 3 or 4 weeks.
It's good at first but soon becomes all very....familiar.
Great if you like 'Walk Of Life' by Dire Straits or 'Don't Get Me Wrong' by The Pretenders because you'll get to hear them about 3 times a day, every day.

But that's the same with any niche station. It was certainly the case with TXFM for example.

In fact, it's the case with every station, niche or otherwise.

But why...why is it that listeners accept this format..its not like it "the new dire straits release" that theyre obliged to play every hour....
