I don't particularly care about the birth in and of itself, but I am looking forward to fact that he may get a fight lined up in the foreseeable future now that Dee is no longer pregnant and the baby is healthy.

The one thing I did feel was sad was that Conor said that he was going to turn his son into a martial arts champion. Did he learn nothing from his own experience? His Dad wanted him to be a plumber and he rebelled against it.

Yeah it rarely works out like that, his son will probably be interested in music or art or something instead.

I drove wonder over with a big bunch of flowers and chocolate for Dee and a 6 Pack of low sugar protein bars for Conor the other day.

A lot of fighters grew up pretty privledged tbh. Not all of them of course. But it's a lot easier for a teenager to train full time with elite coaches when pressure get a job and earn money.
BJ Penn springs to mind.

Discussing the name or weight of the baby is fairly gossipy and pointless but I do think it's generally interesting (across all sports) to see how parenthood affects athletes - particularly wealthy ones.

Does it alter their hunger and enthusiasm to train? Do they want to be down the gym or on the training pitch putting in maximum effort? Does it inspire them to retire early or extend their career so that the child can one day see them compete?

It'll be interesting to see which way it goes but I'm already impressed the baby is apparently nearly 2 days old and there's been not one peep out of Conor about it.

Incidentally can anyone with kids explain to me what's with the obligatory selfie where the new dad is "asleep" while holding the baby in his arms? Is it contrived or are ye actually just boll0xed and it ends up looking 'cute'? :pac:

So the mystery is "over" name wise anyway it seems.

A verified instagram account in the name Conor McGregor Jr. is up and running. It follows 2 people (Conor and Dee) and is followed by the official accounts of Audie Attar and Paradigm (manager/management).

I suppose that was obvious in retrospect.

To be fair, I don't even understand why regular Joe Soaps put photos of their children up on facebook and instagram, nevermind celebrities/athletes.

Dunno about "CJ" though. Bit Americanised.
