Waterford could be mentioned as the "worst". There's feck all there. No working luggage belt when I was there and no public transport in or out of the place. But it was charming and very handy to use.

As for the worst overall airport that I actively seek to avoid, it would be Charleroi. I've never met such rude, ignorant staff in my life. There's nothing there. There's not enough seating, as I found out to my detriment while waiting during a 6 hour long delay, wifi cost something ridiculous like €5 for 15 mins.

Yes but there's a Leffe bar in departures, 4 or 5 different types

Lima airport is pretty horrible if you have to spend any time in it at all, there's basically nowhere to wait.

Saigon international airport was my worst experience solely for its visa que. They take your visa and passport and you must wait about 40 minutes tovhrt it back and then pay the $25.

I hand said visa in and he then proceeds to stare at me like I magically know i must leave and stand in a crowd of pissed off people andcwait for my name to be called. Pissed off and confused people everywhere.

See also the previous thread on this topic. My earlier answer of the old Bangalore Airport is still true, but since then I connected through Boston Logan twice and was not impressed. To be fair, there was a lot of building work going on at the time, so maybe it's better now. Nevertheless, Philadelphia is still my preference in the USA.

Just after getting through bag drop and security in Berlin schonefeld and I can categorically say that this is the biggest dump of an airport I have ever been in. Thrown from one cattle shed terminal to another, having to walk up a narrow stairs to reach gates and the most inefficient security check I have ever seen in my life. German efficiency? I think not....

People complain about Dublin airport especially terminal 1 but this is on another scale of ****hole.

German security staff in all German airports are f*ck rude, the worst of any by a country mile

A lot of the airport's mentioned here are serviced by budget airlines, they are just glorified hangars, it's just a part of the low cost experience.

Paris does my head in, there is always something up that causes chaos, and then trying to navigate through all the dodgy people when changing terminals.

    JFK is just a s**thole.

Regarding Berlin airport, the new airport will be open soon, it's just taking a little longer to complete than was originally planned.

Have to agree with Schonefeld. Terrible facilities. German efficiency certainly bypassed it.

It does manage however to avoid the long walk to and from any gate, any airline, any destination that Dublin is afflicted with. Is it just **** design? How come other airports don't have this 'feature'?

It's a wonder most of you bother leaving your house.

The least pleasant I've been in recently is Brussels, since the bombs. The airport cognesenti on here really wouldn't like the collection of huge gazebos patrolled by surly soldiers in full battle dress.

No shops! No fine dining! No atmosphere! Works though.

Port Harcourt Nigeria. The arrivals hall is a tent and you have to bribe your way in and out.

Can't say I agree with these. I find the three big airports in London very good (use Stansted and Gatwick a lot).

Worked in Redhill, live in Swords. Gatwick got very small very quickly.

Full of Crawley heads for staff, ignorant feckers who hated their jobs.

A little longer? Berlin Brandenburg was meant to be open in 2010 or 2011. It was meant to cost around €2.8 Billion but current estimates put it at €7.5 Billion! The entire construction of the building was found to be inadequate and didn't meet safety standards. Corruption was rampant and some officials were caught taking bribes. After all this they found the airport would not be big enough to handle all the traffic so there are now plans to keep Schonefeld (which shares the same runways) open. This has been a massive embarrisment for Germany and their reputation.
Current estimates have an opening date of Spring 2018 but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Ho Chi Minh City. Grim communist type airport, long queues to go through passport control on arrival and I got robbed by a dodgy taxi scam at the airport.

I was actually in Berlin a couple of years ago and I got a lift to the airport. We took a wrong turn and ended up driving into the new airport and the place is huge to be almost left abandoned its massive almost ghost town like.

Another vote for Berlin Schoenfeld here. It's basically a big shed, truly depressing!

Newark for the lack of signs telling you where your supposed to go. And the fact I had to go through security again.

It's a well run airport though and you don't get caught up in queues and there are plenty of facilities there.

Liverpool airport, looks like a place that was designed by a first year planning student. To get to the gate one has to go up and down stairs, imagine if one was disabled. Security a complete nightmare. The toilets are like something from a bad pub complete with graffity and toilet seats ripped from the bowls.

They were doing up the toilets last time I was in it.

Another for Heathrow...grey, 5 terminals all miles apart and requires a bus to get to, long security queues.

Hanoi, due to the visa problems already mentioned where the lads just leave with your passport.

Philadelphia, Newark, LAX in the states. Flying in america as a whole is painful.

And if anyone complains about dublin airport being bad, try flying out of belfast international. Far worse

Moscow and New Delhi. 2 utter dumps.

I've been to some pretty poor ones, but my own local one Derry always fills me with dread.

    Never liked the staff tbh.

Once saw a security woman at the xray machines make an old woman of about 80 take her shoes off for inspection. My guess was that she wasn't Al Qaeda or ISIS.

    Faro.........!!!!!

    I like LHR

I didnt like LAX or JFK that much.

Logan was security mad- no surprise!

    Dulles was fine.

Stansted is very efficient - how a low cost airport should run.

I likes Basel as you could exit into 3 different countries from arrivals!

BCN is so grubby, the walkway to the train is so rundown.

if you have pre clearance done the apparent lack of security is disturbing

its straight from the plane to baggage and on to the street , it feels like a bus station .

much nicer flying out of it though

    Riga is fairly basic too

by the way this is a thinly veiled look where ive been thread

I know people say Ryanair are jokers with middle of nowhere airports but Warsaw Modlin takes the piss. You leave the main city train station and travel for an hour though you are doing a big loop of the city. Then 20 minutes on a bus and you arrive to a farm shed in the middle of a forest.

The strutting try hard armed border police don't wait until you are at a security desk. You can be sitting down reading a book and they will want to see your passport again.

You get shifted outside in the cold very early before your plane has even emptied of arrivals. Pay the extra to fly to a proper airport if you want to go to Warsaw. Even a cheap Ryanair fare is not worth this

I've seen Gatwick a few times in this thread, it's fine by me :)

Luton. I mean there are probably worse airports but I thought it was unthinkable that a London airport could be so utterly terrible.

As I closed the garden gate I was really in a state
Suitcase in each hand and no transport
The taxi should have been there
He said he was on the way
I thought if he don't hurry up i'll miss me holiday
Finally he turned up and I told him what I thought
Then to my surprise he said sod it you can walk
I had to show a bit of leg, cause time was running out
And a geezer stopped and said
"Hop in I can take you out to Luton Airport"
    Oooowe ooooo Luton Airport (x3)

When we landed in Majorca I was much the worse for wear
But with those romantic nights ahead I really didn't care
I checked in to the hotel it must have been four star all those dolly geezers in white suits liggin round the bar
I settled in quite nicely the sun was really strong
An there they where all pullin birds an I thought it won't be long
Sure enough he turns up thinkin he's quite skiv you won't believe it he's the bloke who offered me a lift to
    Luton Airport
    Ooooowe ooooo Luton Airport (x3)

We had our little romance, we had our little fling
Two weeks in Majorca an he wants to buy a ring
Then I thought he'd left me at the airport on me own but it turns out he's the captain of the plane thats going out to
    Luton Airport
    Oooowe ooooo Luton Airport (x3)

It's alright being chatted up my heart it turns to jelly
They even think that I'm the girl, the one thats on the telly they say "Look in to my eyes darlin, are you from paradise?"
Well I tell em don't I "NO MATE, LUTON AIRPORT"

Oooowe oooo Luton airport (repeat to fade)
