    Just picked up a 2005, 1.6 petrol.

Have a receipt, and the required tippex for the timing belt, but they dont quite seem to match, and the serpentine belt is not in great knick.

So is it possible to get at the timing belt just to look at it ?

    thanks

    In short, no.
Unless it is supposed to be brand new and the belt looks old.
But in essence, no you cannot say if a belt is in good nick by simply looking at it.

If you don't trust it, replace it (and the pump). Best €220 or so quid you'll ever spend.

It's possible... Bought a 1.2 Fiesta with Belt Done, Took the cover off and it's a Contitech belt so not original Ford. :)
