Applying for a Chinese visa at Dublin embassy

I'm wondering if anybody has any recent experience of applying for a Chinese visa at the embassy in Dublin, specifically the express service where you can collect the visa after two business days?  I'm flying to Beijing on 9 May and there are only four working days at the embassy between now and then so I'm cutting it close - long story but I thought I would be grand with the 72 hour visa free transit thing, but it turns out I need a single entry tourist visa instead.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has used the express service and whether the two business days thing is legit or not. And if anybody has any advice in general to make the process go as smooth as possible that would be great as making a balls-up somewhere along the line really isn't an option at this stage!

    Cheers :)

First off, you don't apply at the embassy, you apply at the consulate on Merrion Road.

They're very efficient and will tell you at the time you submit your application when it will be ready. I got a double entry visa last month - applied Monday and collected Thursday. You won't have any issues with the express service.
