Nate can value himself at 1 billion dollars - doesnt mean he will get it. I assume his figure for a non mcgregor fight is a lot bigger than what the ufc are willing to pay him. But i would guess he is banking on running it back with mcgregor again.

His valuation/"worth" that you said "he knows" is ridiculous and yeah the UFC won't be paying it. He's not worth the money he thinks he is.

    Cassius?

Long shot but it'd be the type of long shot he might try pull off.

    Tyson McGregor still feels favourite.

It's not about what Nate thinks he's worth IMO
It's about what would make him get back into the ring again.
Why would he go in for 200k when he has presumably a few million in his account.

It's like that presser when conor was saying something along the lines of

Every time after a fight I'm thinking I'm not gonna do this again , I'm finished , then they hand me the cheque and I'm like.....alright then.

I wanted to find the video of that to make my point But couldn't :-P

I don't think Nate has Conor's obsession with spending money to be fair!

I'm convinced Conor wants to become a Billionaire with a B. He follows Billionaire Mindset on Twitter, loves Vince and Lorenzo, and sees himself one day as a billionaire.

I think he'll fight 7 more times between MMA and Boxing win or lose against Floyd.

    google it? :pac: :)

Only buzzing. Yeah it's Cassius Haye alright but his son is black/mixed-race I can't see it working with a McGregor surname :)

Rocky seems most likely. Conor's mad for the films.

He can want to become a billionaire all he wants, it's never happening.

Christ, imagine if he did become a billionaire, he'd be insufferable

If that was possible don't you think Overeem would still be Kickboxing?[Especially since UFC and GLORY have some sort of deal with Fight Pass broadcasting GLORY events]

Conor thinking he can do whatever he wants and him actually being able to do whatever he wants are two different things.

Makes sense. Limited boxer with a good chin and a powerful cross wins a world title.

Jaysus the hate and doubt is strong tonight :)

People have been telling him his whole career what he can and can't do.

He also seemingly has a half decent modified X-Guard Sweep to go with his iron chin and "limited boxing". :pac:

As long as the baby is not named Rocky or Tyson I'm gonna defend him to the hilt all weekend so bring on the next wave of criticism........If he names it Tyson I'm back to being pissy about his links to the Kinahans and Byrnes :o

That would be amazing, taking the Floyd sh!t talk to a new level - creating a child for purely for a new angle.

"I named my son Manny after the greatest boxer of all time" :pac:

The hate? Grow up. It's nothing to do with hate ffs, you were banging on about logic earlier. Try using some of it.

How many athletes in the history of professional sport have turned their commercial earnings into billionaire status? Michael Jordan and who else? You think McGregor can do a Michael Jordan?

I've been on my best behaviour with your endless trolling of me but will you actually give it a rest?

I put a smiley face and embarrassed smiley face on my post to indicate it was lighthearted.

Billionaire status is an astronomical target, out of reach. But he has to aim for something. Millionaire means nothing anymore.

Yeah Tiger Woods didn't even manage it and that is because he stopped winning. When McGregor stops winning his earning power drops significantly.

Why does it have to be a billionaire athlete ? He is still a businessman also, some future shrewd investments and you never know what could happen and why not aim for it no matter who thinks its impossible.

Again, grow up. "Trolling" my hole. If you post nonsense, expect to be challenged in it, it's a discussion board.

You posted a smiley, yes. Then you vomited back up the McGregor kool-aid you love so much with the line about people have been telling him what he can't do his whole life.

What do you mean "why does it have to be"? It doesn't "have to be" anything.

Of course he has to have a target but the claim was that he genuinely believes he'll become a billionaire. I think that's utter bull**** as the odds are absolutely stacked against it. Of course there's a chance, but I'd say the chance is miniscule. Rather (in my lowly opinion of course) it is simply easy, cheap brash spin from McGregor that is easily sucked up.

Tiger may well do so it but has a bit to go yet, although I read that he still made 50m in endorsements in 2014 which surprised me. No EA video game any more and Nike stepping back from golf could hit him.

LeBron is the only other one I see with a shot at it and he's still a long way off and doesn't have the brand Jordan does. Jordan/Air Jordan still nets MJ tens of millions a year.

In my opionion an athlete can only do so much to achieve billionaire status, once it gets to a certain point his management will have a much bigger influence on how far the wealth can go.

McGregor is a fighter, as much as he and lots of the public like to call him a genius business man. I doubt he'd last too long as CEO of a multi national or anything.

Look at Floyd, it's not him doing the negotiations with UFC or sponsors or showtime, it's his management. Floyd is a fighter and a heel, that's all he needs to do. Put on boxing clinics and keep himself in the public eye. His management, who are experienced and qualified in negotiations and business deals manage the money.

Exactly, put self-imposed limits on what you can and can't do and you f*ck any chance of it happening.

Look at Dr Dre, selling beats for $3 Billion to Apple a couple of years back.

He strikes me as a guy who likes business in general, and when you've a couple of million to invest, the potential for stratospheric wealth is always there.

But he has no experience or training in investments or business. He's spent the majority of his adult life fighting and training to fight. The only business decision he should be making is who to trust with his money.

Nah, I just associate it more with Rocky Pennington at the moment but it'd actually be a cool little name. I think Tyson is a bit over-used.

As with any pregnancy, as long as mother and baby are healthy, the rest doesn't matter!

How far is a bit? His career is probably winding down now. Endorsements too. But he could probably earn more from current wealth than sports just my making his money work for him.
Look at Michael Jordan. Most of his billion dollars was post-career earnings.

A quick Google suggests he's worth about 750m. If investing all that alone, would need a 33% return, so a few years yet. If he's still making 50 odd million a year in endorsements though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,377 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Yeah a few years maybe. But that's my point, he'll probably get there at some point.

It would've been interesting to see him if he had the opportunity to sign a huge deal with the likes of Nike or Adidas as i don't think they'd have had time for a lot of his antics.
