Just listened to Niamh Fitzpatrick on Neil Delamare talking about her sister who died when Rescue 116 crashed last month. Very tough listen, shes a strong strong woman.

I listened to this on podcast last night and a piece of grit got in my eye. It was very sad yet somehow uplifting. Having lost a loved one in somewhat tragic circumstances, a lot of what she said resonated in a big way. I've always liked her as a radio agony aunt and that heartfelt interview simply made me admire her even more.

Was Niamh Fitzpatrick a radio agony aunt - when and where? I just thought that the only connection she had with the media was speaking about the tragic loss of life of her sister Dara and the continued search for Dara's fellow crew mates.

She was on Anton Savages show for a long time in a weekly slot.

Oh god is she Dara's sister? Totally shocked by this. How awful

She was originally on Ray D'Arcy's show, then Anton Savage's one. Now she's on Neil Delamere's Sunday morning show, though for obvious reasons, not recently.

The abomination that is Breakfast Republic is now tying with Ian Dempsey and Fergal Darcy has posted a 5 year high in the 2:30-4:30 slot.
It's a worrying day for radio listenership.

Today FM fared well in fairness...Dempsey steady, D&D up, D'Arcy up and Duffy up! Too early to draw anything from Al Porters figures, not in a wet week, so if anything they should be seen as Muireanns figures and she increased the slot from D&D.

I did say recently D'Arcy had irritated me less and less and has a habit of playing better music than the rest from 7-7...some others obviously agree with 10,000 new listeners! And Ed Smith with an increase in the weekend...best show on the station by far!

Interesting to note a big TV ad campaign kicking off Monday from Today FM.

    I don't believe for a moment that D & D have overnight increased the 9/Noon slot by 12k #fakenews

Just to mention again Eds Smiths show it's far and away best show on radio.

I agree - there is no way there have more listeners than Anton had.

I feel like Dempsey will suffer because of the changes in Today FM. He doesn't have the same chemistry with D&D as he did with Anton.

I dont get a chance to listen to Ed, but i do enjoy Duffys show. I like the music she plays, a mix of everything

In Fairness to D&D they've been all over the country doing gigs and getting there names and faces known.

How on earth are all the shows up in figures when myself, everyone I know who listens, and any poster on here and FB maintained that they were switching the dial after Anton left. So odd.

Four/five songs played twice in only a matter of hours. It's turning into something like FM104 or Q102 with its repetitiveness with the music. Back in the older days, the playlists were a lot more varied with a mixture of decades and, perhaps, genres.

That's one of the reasons I've tuned out and gone to Spotify as they had a bit of an indie and different playlists than the other shows

Echo chambers. People on here are a very small subset of, largely, incredibly passionate radio-heads. The people you know IRL are probably a similar age to yourself, similar background, similar interests.

Shows seem to be connecting with listeners, for which they deserve credit.

Not great for Ian and Matt though. Ian could well be overtaken by 2FM in the next book.

    Thankfully the cringe 5 @ 5 hasn't boosted Coppers ratings:D

All things considered, I doubt there is too much sleep being lost about that in Today FM. D'Arcy's increase is solid and if he continues and upward trend it can only benefit Cooper as a lead in. I also think Newstalk will be in for a shock over the next two books with Drive which may benefit Matt.

As regards the Trump stuff...he can't help but talk about it...he's in the new daily worldwide so he can hardly ignore it.

Have to say the last two times shes been covering for Al she's been much easier to listen to.

I just made it 27 minutes into Fergal Darcys show before I had to turn it off, a PB for me and his show :D

Far superior to who she replaced.

It was a pleasure to listen to the radio today without the desire to throw a shoe at it:D
