If Darby is able to keep with the two lads on a mountain bike while they're on road bikes they must be fierce slow.

I'd imagine green zone is long slow run/cycle. Keeping heart rate under some lowest number.
It's probably still sky high from Liverpool. :D

Wonder pre-ordered the platinum pack the moment it was announced.

I couldn't even afford the $5 PPV he did in Manchester. My life isn't as wonderful as my name suggests :)

Random thought of the day: This time 3 years ago Conor had just signed a deal to represent Volvo as a Brand Ambassador and was given his choice of courtesy Volvo's as part of the deal.

    How the mighty have fallen....

Thats interesting. The 214 with Jones co-main? He's back doing cardio work with Dalby as well it seems if social media is anything to check is training schedule by.

Is the Mayweather thing just bluster then? More negotiation leverage for MMA. Its not done any harm in getting his name out there even further mind.

Is he thinking he can just blow away Ferguson, make another 15m and he's still on for MayMc , its some risk. Especially with how hes been caning it.

I don't think his slice of the MayMc fight will ever be bigger than now, unless he fights out his UFC deal. And theres lots of variables there.

There was a story out a while ago that he's going to fight out his UFC contract as quick as he can so he can fight Mayweather without the UFC taking a huge cut of his purse. Given how active McGregor usually is, everything going right, he could do his four fights within a year. It's a real possibility this is his plan.

He aint getting through 4 fights without taking a loss imo and damaging that boxing fight, its now or never.

If it is true that this is his plan it could just be a negotiating tactic to get the UFC to reduce their cut to keep him happy. It could also be complete horseshít, it's hard to say.

Conor started his 12 week training program last week, which means he's fighting in July. Against Woodley btw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭hewhoscares

****ing hell. Woodley. Seen him mention something on DCs social media about "ill see you there " when Cormier mentioned fight location.

But isn't it in the back end of nowhere? Annahiem. Thats not gonna bring in the gate revenue for a McGregor fight.

And can't see them putting both on the same card tbh - Jones Cormier is a 500k + ppv alone. McGregor will do his usual numbers if not more.

As a fight in itself. You'll get the usual bores going on about defending a belt, but its daring to be truly great. Its really something - and you'd have to have McGregor as a serious underdog (hopefully the betting will be skewed and they'll be some smart money to be made on Woodley). Weight classes matter. He'll be wrestle****ed by Woodley and I don't think McGregors power will carry.

    Annaheim is LA.

The thing I don't like about the weight jumping thing is he doesn't have to go through any contenders in order to get a title shot. In a division as stacked as WW it seems a little unfair to the likes of Maia that he would get a title shot straight away. He's 1-1 at 170lbs ffs. He has a responsibility to his division imo to defend the belt at least once before going up otherwise we get this interim belt bs and a division held up for 12 months+ when a fit and healthy champion could potentially fight.

While it is unfair on Maia, Ferguson, Khabib etc that he jumps the que, I just see someone aspiring for greatness.

GSP has jumped the que. And if Mayweather decides he fancies Thurman/Brook/Manny you can be sure that an mandatory defense will be quickly forgotten.

It would be a 25 pound jump in 2 years. Its not like boxing where people gradually grow into their bodies as they get older he's pretty much the same guy that beat Aldo physically.

    And weight classes matter.

Gotta admire someone going for a challenge.

no chance he fights in the ufc again before this mayweather thing. If he does it means the mayweather fight is dead in the water.

Woodley is one fight too far for him though, what does tyron walk around at? 200? There is a considerable difference in natural weight.

There is more chance of the Loch Ness Monster strolling out and revealing itself than there is of Conor ever fighting in Anaheim and anybody seriously considering it as a possibility needs to have a stern talk to themselves in the mirror.

There's 3 locations Conor can fight in: T-Mobile, MSG and Tesco car park after a night on the nitrous.

Anything else is absolute nonsense. Vegas or NY are hosting every fight for the rest of his career. He's too big a star to go to any other market.

Maybe it has already being discussed but what would happen, in regards to hype/marketing/money if Conor said fcuk you to floyd and set up a fight with Pac Man?

I would imagine that in this situation Conor would have a much bigger say than when dealing with floyd and could cut himself a bigger portion of the pie.

It's a 30 minute drive from LA city centre (as are most of its suburbs/outskirts cities). I'm not saying it's happening but it can so easily be marketed as an LA event if they go down that route. McGregor is not bigger than Los Angeles.

I also find that line about Tesco car park very crude indeed. He has higher standards than that. It'll be M&S car park at the very least these days.

:pac: M&S is a bit too upmarket if the vibe he's going for is being one of the Crumlin massive......

The guys at Applied Analysis in Vegas put out some sort of study on McGregor's economic impact on Vegas and put the economic footprint at about $100 million for the City every time he fights.

The UFC are deeply tied to Vegas in all sorts of political and behind the scenes ways and New York might even offer the UFC sweeteners for them to bring Conor back (they reported an economic impact of $80 million).

It's not that LA isn't a big market, it's just the UFC are deeply locked in to Vegas and there would be war if they let Conor fight in LA.

They definitely have reasons to keep him fighting in Vegas of course, but I'm not sure if it's as cut and dry as you said. They put him on the NYC card and they didn't really have to, that would've sold fine on its own and he could've done big numbers for a different event just based on his own name being on the card. You have to remember that although you mention the deep ties UFC has in Vegas, WME are based in California and that's a big deal when it comes to where the big fights may happen. T-Mobile Arena has some sort of deal to get big events there, but I doubt it specifies McGregor events in particular.

He will most likely continue to fight in Vegas, but I don't think that's set in stone by any means. He definitely won't fight outside of a US friendly time zone again though, I'm pretty certain of that, so we won't see him in Europe under the UFC brand but it's very feasible to put him on a daytime Aussie PPV which I think would do very well indeed like 193 did.

If you read between the lines of the T-Mobile deal though I've a hard time believing they'll stand for Conor continually fighting elsewhere.

It was a 5-year Anchor Tenant deal with the UFC committing to bringing at least 4 big shows per year to the arena. I'd strongly imagine behind the scenes they've some sort of tacit agreement that Conor will be on one/two of those shows when fighting regularly.

As for NY, I don't think the MSG card would have done even $8 million at the Gate without Conor on the card. The fact it did $17.7 million and broke all sorts of records is incredible.

Anyway, someone can come back to me with a GIF of the Loch Ness Monster if he ever fights outside Vegas and NY.

Don't know about this. When Conor was in dispute with NSAC, Dana White said Conor will only fight in New York from now on and it didn't seem to bother management. I think much of the Vegas/UFC synergy ended with the Feritta's leaving.

It's more so in Conor's best interests to fight in Vegas. He was probably all for fighting exclusively in NY until he got his tax bill for 205. Vegas is much more lax.
