Agreed :) I like riding this bike much more than anything I've had in a long time
I've sold 3 bikes in the last while but I can't see myself selling this, on the lookout now for a project bike or maybe time again to pick up something for some offroad fun :D

All still good with this? Im planning on picking one up myself in the near future

what bike did it go on? looks like the same product number (from the pic) will go on a street triple also

Sorry for delay in replying haven't looked up this thread in a while.

Sprint ST 955 and yeah all good, make sure you get the one with the aluminium adaptor plate as this meant I had no drilling or anything to make it fit, and it was much easier to fit the adaptor plate and then fit the R/R to it instead of trying to fit the R/R in one go. The space to work in is very restricted, jammed in between the frame and rear shock mount and you have to work by feel (stop sniggering at the back there)

I got one with an extra long lead as I wasn't sure which one to get, didn't need that in the end but just tucked the 'spare' wiring out of the way and it's no problem.

The R/R I bought has much larger connectors for the alternator which is good (the OEM ones are too small) and connects straight to the battery terminals with O-ring tags. Again eliminates an OEM connector which is undersized and a potential source of problems. It has its own inline 30A fuse on the battery output.

You have to cut off the original alternator plug and crimp on the new connectors, and ideally solder them as well, but you will definitely need either a soldering iron or a crimping tool.

On the original R/R I used to trickle charge the bike every couple of weeks, it would gradually lose charge when ridden in town especially in winter with heated grips on etc. Bike has better charging voltage at idle now and the voltage regulation of the output is very good i.e. it hits 14.3V at quite low revs and stays there rock solid throughout the rev range. I expect to not bother trickle charging the bike much in future.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Yesterday did a full service on the bike. Replaced Oil filters and plugs and replaced all of the coolant too.

Had the bike in for service before and was told they used Motul on it, but you can never be sure. I put Motul in it yesterday and the bike is like brand new. The gear changes are much smoother and responsive. Its driving better than ever.

I really like Motul oil too, and have used yamalube, castrol and silkolene all in the past but personally find the Motul oil really good.

And I love the smell of it for some reason its smells like caramel!!!!

    ;)

Makes you wonder if it was ever put in at the service. It feels like a no. It never ran as clean as today.

Threw new EBC front discs on the SV over the weekend.

The old rivets were rusted to bits, you can see the movement in them from the pic. Massive shudders coming up the bars when braking!

Did a trackday on the R1 and got me knee down.
Also rode the S1000rr over to BSB in Brands Hatch there at the weekend.
    Epic race weekend.

I got this lot on Friday and started installing it on my bike. All going well so far apart from a sheared bolt because Harley listed the torque settings wrong on one leaflet and right on another

Stuck a halfords low tone horn on the bike. Stock one was dying and was mad quiet. Am impressed with the volume of the halfords one, definitely will get noticed.

No good having a big horn if you don't use it often and effectively.:pac:

33k done on the NC now. Oil and filter change and spark plugs. Seen some mentioning the Motul oil so I said Ill give it a blast.

Im not sure about the spark plugs. I ordered NGK laser iridium plugs. But they look no different from the original plugs. Is this the case or have I been scammed buy the seller on Ebay?

    Joe,

The plugs are usually identical, the main difference between the two is the material used in the "tip" of the plug. Normal plugs are usually made of copper but the more expensive iridium ones are made obviously of iridium or platinum.

They (iridium)are used for the longevity as the material lasts longer then copper. TBH I was going to get them a few times for different services but different mechanics I spoke to dont like them as they are less conductive then copper and cannot be gapped if tip is off etc. And they are alot more expensive too.

But in theory should last you alot longer then normal plugs, if you find that the bike is not starting aswell on colder mornings its the new plugs.

I like Motul 5100, good oil and it smells nice as well!
How are you finding the NC economy wise?

The Motul is definitely a different colour to the castrol I normally use.
Absolutely great economy wise. I could be achieving 80+ mpg if I had patience:P

There is 2mm left on the rear tyre so that will be getting changed soon. I have the new replacement sitting in the shed ready to go.
Im going to service the rear caliper soon and also re grease shock\swingarm linkage soon also

Those were iridium plugs in there already. Much finer tip on the centre electrode than standard plugs.

What was the part number on the side of the old plugs?

Finally got around to changing the oil and filter on the cbrxx. I'll change the coolant tomorrow. First time to remove failings from a bike. Bit of a pain so I'll get as much done as I can whilst they are off, (acf50) into the nooks crannies.
