Does Ecollege count as BTEA?

    Hi,
    Just wondering if anyone knows if the Ecollege online courses fall under the BTEA scheme or not? I note the Springboard courses (including presumably those delivered fully online) do but it's hard to get information on the ecollege ones.

    Springboard page says:
    "If you are getting a jobseeker’s payment and participating on a part-time Springboard course you will continue to get your jobseeker’s payment under the Part-Time Education Option (PTEO). If you are on a full-time Springboard course you will transfer to a Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) - you must meet the qualifying criteria for BTEA."

    Do any of the ecollege courses count as full time or would they just all be part time? Reason I'm asking is I'm on a reduced age restricted payment and the BTEA seems to be an increase!
    "If you are a new participant aged under 26 and you were getting a reduced age-related Jobseeker's Allowance payment, you will get a new personal maximum BTEA rate of €160, Any means you have will be deducted from this rate."

    eCollege courses are free for those who are unemployed. They continue to receive their existing payment but there is no increase or training allowance.

    eCollege courses are available to anyone who wants them. If you’re already in work and looking to upskill, you can take any of the courses for a fee. Employers can also get a subsidised rate if they want to encourage their staff to take one of the online courses.

    eCollege courses are available free-of-charge to people who are getting jobseeker’s payments, disability allowance or One Parent Family Allowance, as well as people signing on for credits.
