I'm going to cook a 4 pound piece of beef in my slow cookers maiden voyage, I was wondering how much water/stock to put in?

Also should I put potatoes and veg in with the beef or cook them separately?

    Thanks.

Is 8 hours enough cooking time for a 4 pound piece of beef?
