The acceleration from 200 to 315 is ridonculous!

Software Limiter kicked in at 350km/h :D

There wasn't really anything left to go faster when it reached that speed though :)

Yup... and from the displays a battery temperature alarm. But... seriously this is 350km/h in first gear effectively... imagine the RPMs at the motor.

Why dont EV's have at least one high speed gear?

I know it complicates the drivetrain and its another wearing part etc but surely it would improve efficiency at the higher speeds? Is there a more fundamental reason for not having multiple gears in an EV?

No fundamental reason, I'd see sports oriented EVs using a series of overdrive units in the future.

The efficiency advantage is only a few percent, and at what are legal speeds in most countries, with sufficient current from the battery, you can already push a motor with a single reduction gear to the point where most cars are traction limited anyway.
So for day-to-day use in vehicles it's not worth the design and materials cost.

113 kWh battery pack. They originally planned 130.
