When we bought our house ir was finished in a coloured plaster to keep it maintenance free. Unfortunately the previous owners chose dark grey so the house just looks in painted. We want to paint it. Can we just put external paint on it or do we need to prime it? The plaster is pretty solid and not at all chalky.

Stabilizing primer (one coat), allow to dry overnight and then paint away with good quality masonry paint (2 coats minimum). It'll never budge.
