Not sure if they are all just poor relations to Gtechniq or not though?

From what I have read the Gtech serum is the best but because it has to be watched closely when applying, others are better for the weekend detailer type

You wont be able to buy crystal serum. so knock that in the head if you are going DIY.

Carpro CQUK is a fine product, up to 2 years protection. I used just over 1/2 bottle for 2 coats on my passat, but I think I may have overdone it with apc washes.
Protection is still there, gloss levels on the sides is epic.
Bonnet, roof and boot is a bit duller and protection is possibly non existant at this stage.
Would I use it again ? Absolutely,
Would I do anything differently this time?
Yes.
1)
Would do a more careful wash technique.
2)
I would strip it off after 12 months during good weather period and re apply a fresh coat.

Those options are part of the plan for my next car.

Dont have the CarPro in stock - ordered, but wont be here for a week or more!

I only ever do mine at 40 deg.
I also only use Non Bio Liquid.
Hang them on the line
tumble dry them for 10 mins.

Thin layers is the way to apply it. I'd expect to get 8 - 10 by 2 layers

Apply, let cure, buff, allow more curing, 30mins to 1 hour, repeat again for 2nd layer.

Can anyone recommend a place to go to have some very early non-structural rust looked at - around kildare/Dublin/further afield (I'll drive anywhere really)

I would have a go at using some of the bilt hamber treatment products as I think they would be suitable for it- but id like someone in the know to advise me on it? Any of you lads well up on this craic?

If they don't fail it, it's fine.

They won't fail a car on non structural rust; as it has nothing to do with the safety of the user or other road users

Thanks qv, but it's more a preventative action I want to take, part of the pursuit of perfection...., it's part of the small lip on the wheel arch and around a drain plug in the spare wheel well. I don't want it to grow, and considering I throw a lot of money at every other aspect of the car - would be nice to stop the rot before it starts.

You could try reactive welding near brittas/manor kilbride. I got a small bit of welding done. The guys bang on and would talk for hours if let. Interesting place with lots of classic cars etc.

Didn't even get that far, polish is on, looks super, but took ages to do. Wax will have to wait until the morning.

Ah, I never put on a second layer. This would mean using the entire 50ml as it generally takes about 20ml to do the entire car.

What difference would a second layer make? Longevity?
