Just to be clear, you can hear the dog if you stand in the garden. I'm talking about inside the house. I also have good quality windows with no vents.

I wear mine all the time, in work, on the steet, trains, flights everything. They are just too good not to and damn sure I'm going to get the use out of them at the price! Have them 3 months and only wore another set of headphones once as I forgot the QCs at home before going to work.

So I picked up a pair of these(QC35) for 2 long haul flights 2 weeks ago, they are the business. Really really good. So I had read all the posts here and ended up looking at the Sony, and when in the shop, I was introduced the Bang and Olufsen ones, nearly got these

very little price difference as they were reduced, they are a thing of beauty, well engineered and design features are nice, what put me off was the round as opposed to oval shaped ear cups. and I hadn't time to do much review on them. But they are beautiful.

Anyways, the ones, I have I love and will continue to use, buy now or regret later.

I've been lucky enough to try both side by side in a real world environment. Yes the B&O are stylish and maybe a little more comfortable to wear but I still believe that the Bose trumps them in noise cancelling, not by a huge margin though. At the time I tried them the price difference was in the region of 100-150 quid but they do seem to have come down a bit recently.

My thoughts were if you valued style, the B&O were the way to go but if noise cancelling was your thing, then Bose. I have the Bose and I use them all the time at work, I love them..

Interestingly rtings.com has now reviewed the Sony MDR-1000X (along with the Bose QC35 and QC20 in the past), so now you can directly compare them all.

Generally they found the the Sony to have better active noise cancellation then the Bose QC35!! *

* Though while the Sony have on average better sound cancellation, my own QC20's have significantly better sound cancellation at Bass frequencies, which includes the sound of airplane engine, so while the Sony's might be better in an office, the QC20's are much better for planes.

However they also found the Bose QC35 to overall have better sound quality then the Sony.

All very interesting, these Sony are the first real competition to the Bose for noise cancellation and might be a good option for some people to consider. Great to see some competition in the market and new options.

The backbeat have terrible noise cancellation, to be honest it is so bad they really shouldn't even be allowed to be called noise cancelling. Overall only -14.82 dB and at bass frequencies just a pathetic -2.3 dB would make them pretty much useless on a flight (QC25 are -25.82 dB and -19.14 dB).

BTW in case people don't know, even a difference of 1db is very significant, since it is a logarithmic scale

Picked up the Q35's yesterday and used from Limerick to Dublin on the train today, they were incredibly comfortable and light. Found the ANC great on the train and felt like I was in my own little world watching Netflix on the way home, made my journey very enjoyable!

Has anyone tried the QC20? I like to sleep on flights and the QC15/25/35 are too big to allow that happen with comfort.

I've the QC20's and I love them and highly recommend them.

They actually have the best sound isolation when it comes to airplanes (Bass frequency), -10db better then any other headphones!

Small, portable and light makes them very easy to travel with.

And as you say, since they are in ear, you can sleep in them on an aircraft. I could never sleep before on airplanes, but with these, I can sleep no bother at all.

Also easier to use if you are a glasses wearer.

Btw some frequent traveller tips. Also make sure to get a two prong adaptor for the stupid Aer Lingus entertainment system and also a sound adjustor adapter.

I carry the above, plus a 2-in-1 adaptor (for listening with the better half) and a high quality sleeping mask in the QC20 bag, so that I'm always ready to go on a flight.

Thanks BK, I picked up the QC20i in Dublin Duty Free this morning for 275 which turned out to be 15 euro cheaper than LHR. They were excellent on the A319 flight from Dublin, so much better than the QC15 that i use as my flight headset (with uflymike)
Now i get to enjoy a 6 hour flight in a lie flat bed, so i get to see if they suitable for inflight sleeping

Headset is amazing, much better than the QC15, even succeeded in sleeping without losing them.

Not sure if its just me but i wouldnt dare try and sleep in lie flats with my own expensive headphones on. Id be worried about crushing them. Always just use the free squeezy ear buds, does the same job and no damage done.

That is the advantage of the QC20's, they are earphones, not headphones. Much easier to sleep in them and really no fear of crushing them!

I use them like this all the time.

Also these are more effective then the squeezy ear buds. In addition to doing a similar job of blocking noise like the squeezy ear buds, they also actively reduce the noise of the plane. Finally you can also pipe some music through the headphone, including the type that is designed to help you sleep, that blocks out even more plane noises.

You can sleep with QC25's 35's too it's just more tricky. you either have to lie flat and not on your side or lie on your side and slide your left/right cup off your ear that touches the pillow.

This is by far the cheapest I've seen them.

Can't figure out how to display Spanish Amazon in English so can't figure out if there are delivery costs.
