I like the adjustable rearsets does adjusting them a notch make much of a difference ?

    It does indeed.

Oh jaysus me legs are cramped

    OR

Ah now thats nice and comfy.

I like a sporty forwardish position and like to have my legs in against the tank,I push heavy on the front end, thats my riding style.

Will be playing around with the settings this weekend.

still waiting for spark plugs to arrive, have been looking at what I'll do to the suspension, looking into either straight forward progressive springs or else gold valve emulators on the front, and then the very common swap at the shock to either a slightly longer gsxr 750 or 1000 stock shock or else zx10r

was looking at the price of nitron shocks, 800 odd pounds

Coolant change and rad flush on the R1 this evening.

Cheap ass flexi funnel from Dealz for 1 euro 49 cents made life much easier.
Simple 10 minute job and shes running a bit cooler now too.:)

How often do you change your coolant stewy?

Today I fixed the rec/reg on my bike. The Triumph part is £250 and isn't all that reliable or efficient, same as the usual Jap bike parts. I got a MOSFET aftermarket part from electrexworld.co.uk for 130 euro delivered, more efficient and reliable and runs cooler.

Comes with a 3mm thick alu mounting plate - acts as a heatsink but it also makes installing the R/R much easier. The original part was a pig to get out, on the inside of the beam frame with the thickest part of the wiring loom running right in front of the bolts - couldn't see anything so had to work by feel (oo-er) and even when it was unbolted there wasn't much room to wriggle it out - the top mount of the rear shock was in the way too.

The mounting plate was easy to get in place and it meant that the threaded holes for the R/R itself (which was no thicker than the original, including the mounting plate) were brought forward just enough to be visible which made the job a lot easier. Once the mechanicals were done it was time for the electrics.

Look how much bigger the aftermarket connector lugs are than the OEM. The OEM connector is supposed to be able to carry 30A, it's clearly not able for that but the stock R/R can't produce that in practice anyway.

Crimped and soldered the new connector onto the alternator wires, put the tank back on and fired it up. Straight away on fast idle (cold engine, and headlights on - can't turn them off) I was getting 14.2V across the battery, the OEM setup never got close to that. Revved it through the rev range and the voltage was steady at 14.3V. Happy days.

All still good with this? Im planning on picking one up myself in the near future

what bike did it go on? looks like the same product number (from the pic) will go on a street triple also

Thats overkill, once every two years is more than sufficient

Cleaned & lubed the chain and sprockets on my bike for the first time today... is there some sort of magic trick I'm missing for doing this without a centre stand? Rolling it and doing it section by section is:

    A) a total pain in the balls and
    B) a great way to cover my underground car park in chain cleaner :pac:

Rear paddock stand and a bit of carboard.

    Simples.

Knew I should have picked one up when I was out in Cotters a few weeks back. Hopefully nobody walks past where I cleaned my bike carrying a naked flame for the next while or they are in for an explosive surprise...

spent most of the day trying my best to clean the bike but it's so filthy, chain guard took ages to clean, I had the rear wheel off for a good clean into all the hard to reach places but ended up not getting it fully clean so it'll have to come off again.

Just really old layers of road filth and oils on everything that isn't paint. Going to have to get a thing of kerosene and just coat everything with a paint brush and hope that dislodges it.

Needs to be done though, would like to have it spotless and waxed so I can just give it a quick clean and then be able to work on it without needing to fly through disposable gloves

    414068.jpg

I need to buy loads of stuff I should already have as well like grease ffs, had to put the rear wheel back on with the old horrible grease on it

New deep 8mm socket is very nice for doing the chain tension up.

also took the reg plate off and noticed how dodgy the whole tail tidy is including how the reg is bolted on so the tail will be coming off and a bit of superior bodge-job employed to affix that better..

Bit of Harpic bleach brushed on the exhaust headers and they will come up like new.

Wipe off after a few minutes or else it will eat into the metal. Then wash the headers and then wipe down with WD40.

today I tied a bit of string to a wine bottle and dipped it into the central heating tank to get some kerosene

into a spray bottle and was great for cleaning the chain, what a waste of money using wd40 was before for that job

hopefully I'll get to actually ride the bike monday when the spark plugs should be here finally..

where should I buy suzuki part 5744111010 clutch adjustment screw to have it as soon as possible? Mine is in two pieces, no idea when it happened but there we go it's broken

edit: suppose any 8mm cable adjustment screw job would do.. going to go for a dig down in the garden shed and see if anything else has one for the mean time

later edit: all the bicycles are 6mm or so adjustors so no good don't know where in person to get one so probably going to go with this http://www.ebay.ie/itm/ALLOY-CABLE-ADJUSTER-WITH-NUT-M8-20mm-01285-5-33-10-/151686245947?hash=item2351346e3b:g:q~8AAOSw3xJVWwRO
