    Hi there
Anyone here used the Simon Open Door in the past. For those of you that don't know you make a payment to the Simon Community in return for a 1 hour consultation with an architect to discuss extensions, buildings design, plans, costs etc.
I noticed the fee has gone form €50 a few years ago to €70 last year and up to €90 this year.
Anyone find it good or a waste of money. I have plans sketched up for a small extension to the house and wouldn't mind a second opinion from an architect.
Of course a lot depends on the architect you meet, just looking for any general feedback.
    Thanks

We did it last year and found it really helpful, we are due to submit for planing soon. We came a way with a clear design idea which we have worked on with our engineer and are due to submit PP in may. Def worth it. Dont for get your county plan as they have a design brief that look to be met in the PP

Just to highlight that the 'fee' is a donation to charity.

I think having independent advice on your plans is going to be money very well spent (and of course, bonus that this is for charity).

90 euro is nothing for a project that will potentially cost you thousands.

We did this & also found it useful. Look at the list of participating architects in your area & choose one best suited to your project if possible. €90 is money well spent. The appointments tend to book up fast.
