Before having it I would have said no but now that I have it in this car, I'd miss it but if you like your technology or into your music then I can see why someone would spec it over the basic system. The widescreen is nice, the internal hard drive is handy if your old fashioned like me and store your music collection on disk rather than streaming from your phone. Built in WiFi is handy too for browsing the web. It was a pricey enough extra on the F10 but they then offered it as part of a M Sport Plus pack which also included the harmon kardon loudspeaker system, rear privacy glass and 19" alloy wheels. However some features are a bit dated alright, eg it comes with a DVD player that most people wouldn't use these days and the screen is not a touchscreen. Pro Nav is standard equipment on the new G30.

Fair enough, my other half had the standard system in her 15 BMW but my mam has a 14 of the same system but can't stream over Bluetooth or plug in via USB, she needs a BMW adapter. The sound system is very poor, can't get it properly loud without distorting. I'm half looking to upgrade my Volvo in the next 18 months and was wondering was a Harmon Kardon sound system worth holding out for. I'm into my music and sound systems so would be looking for something good. The Bose system in an old Audi I had wasn't the best over the standard system. We had 3 A3's at the time so it was easy to compare them and the difference was fairly negligible.

You should be able to get the advanced bluetooth enabled via coding afaik or someone on here called BMWstuff specialises in upgrading the standard BMW systems to the pro systems. If your looking out for cars with the Harmon/Kardon system, then look for the built in silver speakers on the doors where the exterior mirrors are. I've no experience of the Audi Bose sound system but the sound from the Harmon/Kardon system is definitely better than the standard sound system in my previous F10.

Bmstuff installed a dension kit for me into my e60 when I had it. He is expensive but knows his stuff.

Can only presume the 640 in Stillorgan is gone, just searched 6 series there and it's not showing. Balls.

Thanks for that service history upload Bazz.

    Plenty more out there.
Sell your own and pick one up in UK would seem to be cheapest way presuming 640D is your pick which it seems to be.

Not surprised - any good beemer in great condition, well specced and keenly priced is going to go fast.

I spotted an x5 in Howth before Xmas I liked, but it was gone within the week.

You have to move fast if you find the right one.

Is the pro nav worth the extra Bazz?

It's worth pointing out many of the options (like real time traffic, wifi or online entertainment) can be purchased in the connecteddrive store anytime in the car's life ONLY if you have Pro Nav (factory-fitted).

And you can trial services as well or pay monthly...

Certainly not, probably the only one in the country I'd say. Bit of a sleeper too being in Luxury trim rather than M Sport. Has some nice extras like Pro Nav, Harman/Kardon loudspeaker system, lane departure, adaptive cruise control, etc. Tiny mileage.

    You tempted Mark?

Yeah sure the tax is 750!

What would that have cost new, 80 grand +?

    It's a beautiful car.
If it was about 31/32 grand would be a good buy for someone who didn't do huge mileage.

Looked at bmw figures up to March and they are only a little down on last year but was a huge jump in registrations in March. The new 5 arrived but I'm guessing a lot of pre regging going on this year and I reckon things are going to slow down even more now.

Personally I think they look wrong without the M-Sport spec. I'd imagine resale would be much better on an equivalent M Sport too.

Just been on Piston/Autotrader, there's some lovely 640D examples in the UK. This would be the dearer end but it's stunning.

Those pictures weren't taken this week nor last either. Bit odd?

How'd you know? Works out that you can buy one in a BMW dealer in the U.K. and including VRT, have it home with a 2 year warranty for less than you can buy the ones in Beshoffs. Just need mine gone though. I might send a few mails tomorrow and see if dealers in the U.K. would take mine as a trade.

Look at the leaves on the trees. Those pictures were taken last summer at least.

I wouldn't bank on UK dealers taking your 635d Mark, they probably would not be interested in the hassle of registering it and changing dials assuming it's an original Irish car. You might have better luck up North but your choice in new car will be smaller.

Think it's well priced already for a 3litre 5 series with only 9000 or so miles. Practically new engine. Plus very high spec compared to your standard 520d.

If it was an m sport it would seriously interest me as my mileage is quiet low for diesels.

I agree with you on the m-sport bit. Would really add appeal to the type of person who wants a 3L petrol 5 series.

BMW have dropped the luxury line here and uk for the new 5.
Funnily enough I thought on a 520d it was a good spec as it gave pro nav as standard on the f10. I agree though a higher powered 5 is better as m sport.

I know it's early days but any
Interest in your car yet mark?

I'm presuming you have settled on a 640d as the next one anyway or is that still up for debate?

Not a sniff. I'll drop it down in a week or so to €17990/18000 but after that I'll just let it sit at that price.

Used A7 interests me, new GTI interests me (although the money needed to get into one if I traded in my car is about 7K and that's just madness), G30 520d (I know, I know!) interests me and the 640D obviously. It will cost me a fair deal less to get a 640D at the end of this year or early 2018 relatively speaking but it'd be nice to have one while they're still only 4/5 years old.

its half of what it used to be i.e. the 3 litre off cc was E1500, on emissions for that 535 its now E750, fair enough if it was the next rate up i.e. 1200. E750 is not high tax, the E270,280,390 rates are virtually free tax compared to what many of us are used to paying or used to pay on bmw's...

Have had my own car up for a couple of months and very little interest, I had it priced too high but did drop it later on. Even still regardless of price if somebody was interested I would expect them to make contact anyway even if they feel it's priced to high. I think it's just going to be very difficult to sell a high value car privately unless you are giving it away.

one issue is that it is a private sale. I reckon if that car (and it is a stunner), was put up for sale next year privately, you would get circa 10k for it. It will be seen as an "old" car with relatively high motor tax, and I said above its moderate tax, but there is such a hell bentness on motor tax here, where they will happily ignore many a multiple of that in depreciation.

The irish maket with the blatant year on reg plate, motor tax system on cc here and the phobia and the (keeping up with the jones) people buying **** cars, but only looking at the number on the reg plate, ensure that if you arent a reg snob, but are a car snob, the real value is in the older stuff...

bit of a wild card here Mark...

That Merc is a stunner. My next door neighbour had exact same one for a few years in silver it was an 07 too. He hardly ever drove it but when he started it up the noise was something special. It's gone now but I regret not getting a drive of it. Beautiful machine. There is not a hope in hell they will get 40k for it.
