Bug/virus self installed on google maps

Somehow I've had a pink circular icon with a yellow pacman type symbol inside that circle appear on my Google maps page.
When clicked on it goes to what looks like a Chinese map.
Its also on my daughters phone and she doesn't even use maps!
Has anybody else been infected with this and how do I uninstall?

Pacman was supposed to be some April Fools joke on Maps. Didn't see any on mine earlier when i used it though.
