NBRU Dermot o Leary says he has no idea what's going on and no members of nbru should be picketing IR or BE and members should leave them picket

Railway station at Heuston being picketted at the moment. I'm at Heuston right now. I'm due to travel to Portlaoise by train and IE are saying that no outward/inward bound rail journeys can be guaranteed today

DublinCoach run a fairly regular service to Portlaoise if that's any help.

Sack the lot of them. I'm sure that bunch of thickos would be snapped up in the private sector

I'll drive it if need be.

    Thanks for the tip.

Just wanted to warn intending rail travellers today about the virtual lockdown at the moment here at Heuston station.

Not alone it seems.. Morning Ireland on RTE Radio 1 said that there are train drivers picketing alongside them in Cork with handwritten signs.

If he is serious he should expel them all from his union.

Sad that weak-minded IR/DB staff act like sheep and react to what are blatantly illegal pickets. Is there anyone with any backbone in their ranks?

Would advice commuters who got in this morning to start planning how to get home
The only reason a lot of earlier city bound services ran as the be drivers showed up to picket too late (couldn't even get up in time )and train drivers had already got to work

If you dont have a ticket with Citylink etc, dont bother trying unless you're getting on the first stop, they're not stopping at subsequent stops.

A 39 bus has just passed me. First I've seen this morning and I've been out over an hour

    The unions haven't authorised this.

I'm sympathetic to BE workers but secondary picketing should be illegal.

Harristown buses that are already out are running in places a 17a driver told me. Some going back to garages after their run however.

Great. They need to be told in no uncertain terms that the public do not support any of the drivers on strike

Absolute joke. Shane Ross has to get involved now. He needs to come along not with a chequebook but as a mediator in this dispute

I'm sure SIPTU know well what was going to happen

In any working normal functioning job if you decided to do what Dublin Bus and the Dart drivers have done this morning you would be at minimum be receiving a formal verbal warning.

I hope someone follows up with the above and the drivers should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

I also hope not one cent from my tax gose towards and I hope they privatatise the whole thing as far as I am concerned. This is happening far to regularly with drivers throwing there toys out of the pram.

Disgusting from both BE and IR workers. Pityful, they will get no luck out of this disgraceful behaviour and I wouldn't be surprised if they're all fecked onto the dole.

Not that I'd care at this stage.

The deluded Brid Smith is believing it's now a National Transport Strike.

Unlikely... at this point there are no doubt a lot of calls between CIE execs and Business leaders to Government Buildings. I'd be willing to bet that despite the Government holding firm till now, this will break them. :(

And so the cycle will continue

Ross should intervene as the owner of CIE informing them to take action against this wild cat action by issuing warning and informing CIE to sue the unions involved
