It's taking up 34% of my battery. What is it?

Do you use Firefox? If so try deleting, or at least updating?

Is it part of an app I already have?

Apparently it is a process used by Android by other apps. The other culprit that has been identified is Facebook. Again try deleting?
    btw Firefox is a web
    browser.

Why do they do this? It doesn't make sense to me anyway.

I had this problem. I deleted Facebook and it went away. No battery problems since and, on the plus side, I realised I don't miss FB at all!
