There will always be a level of haggling money built into a dealer's asking price. How much is really dependent on numerous factors such as how keenly the asking price is compared to the other similar cars, how much the car ows the dealer, how much demand there is for the car, how much the dealer thinks they can get for it and how good a negotiator the buyer is. In other words there is no written formula or percentage figure discount. Go in with the knowledge of having a fair idea what the true value of the year and model of car is.

My recent experience. Car was priced on-line at €13,950. I went to the dealer, saw the car in the lot with a sticker price of €14,500. Did some haggling and got it for €12,000.

I don't believe the fact I was paying the full amount straight away made much difference.

As bazz says, do some research. Find out how much the car is really worth; using motorcheck.ie; how much a similar spec car is going on donedeal/carzone. Figure out how much is it really going to cost you, i.e. how much mileage is on it, does the timing belt need to be replaced etc. There is always a deal to be done. Just go in with realistic expectations.
