No arms or no legs...

...just walked home from the pub and was looking down at my legs and marvelling at how quickly they did their job. 1 solid mile uphill in <15 mins. So that led me on to pondering could I live with no arms, or no legs.

Yes, I'm sure it's been asked here before...but now it's important to me tonight... I've settled on preferring no arms...

You can have a relatively normal life in a wheelchair, many people do. Arms are another story, and I'd rather use a wheelchair than never give another hug.

I'd give up legs before arms.

Like Candie said*, you could much more easily transition to life without legs than arms.

*unintentional but welcome Velvet Underground reference

Well obviously it would be an horrific choice to actually make, but I agree loosing legs would be less debilitating than loosing arms.

If only we could fit the seat of a wheelchair to the legs of one of these guys... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7xvqQeoA8c :)

Could still play five a side with no arms, and would never had to go in goals.

    Easy choice for me clive

If I'd no arms I wouldn't be able to tie my shoes, but having no legs would negate that problem...

Your balance might be affected somewhat.

What happens if you're Joanne o Riordan?

I'd definitely choose no legs. Far easier to have working prosthetic legs than prosthetic arms. Your legs are just two long stumps propping you up really, you need your arms and hands for absolutely everything.

If I was a spider I'd choose no arms.

You'd be far less independent without arms, sure you wouldn't be able to brush your own teeth, or scratch an itchy nose, or wipe yer own arse...

My arms are far better tools for life than my legs could be in the long term.

I'd say getting your legs chopped off would be more traumatic, but i'd go with it to keep me arms.

My legs if I didn't have arms I'd have to keep pointing my legs at things and saying over there that's where I left whatever I'm asking for.

Absolutely! He'd have kicked it down instead of shooting through it.

    And then shot her.

No legs. Not being able to feed yourself, drink, wash, dress yourself, wipe your own arse, use a tablet/phone (in the conventional way) etc etc is much worse than not being able to walk.
