List of good Private and Public school - South Dublin

Hello,

I recently moved to the new apartment in Belfield. I would like to know the good private and public primary school around south Dublin, near to our locality(Belfield). Can someone help me?

Are you looking for boys, girls or mixed? Will you be travelling to the city centre from Belfield or other direction?

Hi,

I am looking for a school for my daughter. I will be travelling towards City Center from Belfield. Any good school around Belfield, should be fine.

There are many schools around Belfield, hence i m reaching out to you guys to help me out with the list of good schools.

Private primary schools are fairly rare in Dublin, and fairly expensive You would be reasonably close to the Children's House Montessori School in Stillorgan (mixed) and to Mount Anville (girls only) at Belfield, though they wouldn't be on your route into town. You would pass close to Alexandra College on your way into town. I don't have direct experience of any of these, but I've heard good things about Children's House.

If you're not familiar with the Irish system, you might want to do some research on the structures around religion and schools. Most schools have a particular religious ethos.

when you say Belfield do you mean in UCD or beside it? either way one private option is St Killians, it backs on to the UCD campus and you can walk from one into the other. Good reputation and small classes.

i am staying in at Belfield Park apartment. I would also like to let you know that, we moved recently to Ireland.

I m fine for any school around that area(preferably with the max of 3KM).

As i see many schools around that area, i m quite unsure on what basis, should I go for one.

if you are flexible to include fee paying you will have more choice. Honestly around where you live all the schools will be fine but some maybe oversubscribed so you might not realistically get a place for next year in some of them and some of them might have a catholic first policy but that kind of overlaps with being oversubscribed anyway.

A friend of mine has kids in the national school in Mount Merrion and he is happy with that, I think there is a national school in Booterstown which is fine from memory . there is Mucross in Donnybrook but I'd say they would have a long waiting list . if you are told not possible by the national schools I'd start looking at some of the private ones.

Muckross Park College - always has been an excellent school. Run by Dominicans. About 3km from Belfield Park towards the city.

It used to be mixed in the very young years (age 4-6) but that was 48 years ago!

There are quite a number of fee paying schools in south Dublin.
I am not familiar with many of them but I know a few people with kids in - http://www.kilians.com/ and it is excellent.
