Anyone know what the internship pay is for each of Big 5? Do they all pay?

    Normally €500 a week.
Not bad! Only A&L and AC explicitly say on their websites that they pay but I guess this applies to the others too, then?

Yes, I'd be surprised if a commercial firm did not pay to be honest. They're competing for the interns too so it's in their interest to pay them and it's fair that they get paid too. Put this into perspective though, if you intern at a New York law firm, you get paid between $3,500-4,500 a week.

Starting salaries at the top firms in NY for new lawyers are around €150,000 so I highly doubt interns are earning €250,000 a year

They're not on a yearly salary as interns. They're on a weekly salary. There's a difference. Here's one of the bigger firms in New York and this is what they pay to Washington interns... $3,461

Here's a list of all the big firms summer intern pay...

Does anyone know which internship programme would be better out of Cox and A&L Goodbody?

Or between Matheson and A&L Goodbody? If I get A&L G I'll have to refuse either AC or Matheson, and wondering whether that would be a good idea.

It all depends on your own circumstances (what year your in etc) and the feeling you got from each firm. They are the top three firms so it's great to have the options. You'll likely be offered a training contract at the end of each internship so pick the two that you'd most like to work at.

If you have another summer before you have to start doing the fe1s then you could always apply to the one you turned down again.

Everybody will have their own preferences so it's down to how you felt about each firm.

Does anyone received an offer after Monday/Tuesday Arthur Cox individual interviews? I am just wondering because I haven't received anything yet and they told me that they would let me know in two days. Is it a bad sign?

    Thanks

I had my interview on Tuesday, and still have not heard. It's usually not a good sign. They tell the candidates who are selected first, in order to make the lists of who is participating in the internship. That way if anyone declines an offer, they can look to the "reserve list". So the last people to be told, are usually those unsuccessful.

I hope that's not the case, but I think it may be.

Don't be worried, if you got that far you're probably a shoe in. These things just take time to be organised.

I had my interview on Monday and have already received my offer. But I'm not sure if they will have decided on the Tuesday interviewees yet. Good luck :)

Last time I applied to RDJ it took them about 2 weeks to reply to the applications so I'm expecting the same this time around. Hopefully early next week.

Any tips on preparing for an interview? It is not with one of the top law firms but I am still very nervous. What kind of questions tend to come up or what should I research?

    What firm is it with?

In general, you should be prepared to know why you studied law, why you picked your university, why you're applying to that firm and some commercial awareness about general news issues and areas that the firm practice in. Know your application off by heart too!

Anyone had an interview with William Fry that could give some tips... would really appreciate.

I interviewed and was offered a TC there (turned it down). They essentially grill you on global current affairs and your application and motivation for applying.

wow fair play... the "grill" part scares me now to be honest haha. Thanks though!

Anyone know what the situation is for the RDJ internship. I will be attending their interviews in Cork next week. Does anyone know how many interns they take on? In what branches? All seems a little unclear atm.

Not grill in a bad way but they might challenge your views on a subject just to see what your response is. But both interviews I had there covered a range of topics like global data protection, terrorism, Brexit, Irish Water etc. Don't be worried just make sure your answers are well reasoned and don't be afraid to stick to your guns.

You already got notification back? Did you apply for the cork offices or for all of them? I did an internship last summer and it was unpaid so watch out for that! But in general its a fantastic internship and they really take you under their wings! The interviews are generally quite laid back but don't take it for granted! Know your current affairs and I know for the traineeship interview they give you scenarios that you have to give clients general advice on so be prepared for that! I generally find having a glance over tje law gazette is a good way to prepare for interviews :)
