Does anyone know the story with Matheson interviews? one or two rounds?

Matheson are just the one round, they actually ask very few to interview, circa 120 invited to interview and 80 places on the internship so you've done amazing to get this far!

Does anyone have any experience interviewing for Eversheds or Matheson?

The Eversheds interview is a delight. They're very nice, and basically let you give an elevator pitch, it never gets above the level of a chat, and they try their best to make you feel at ease.

The Matheson interview is the toughest of them all imho. They will pick random things on your application, say, a subject you said you find interesting, and grill you on it. If you've travelled somewhere they'll ask you about that country, about the political situation there or something like that. They'll ask about current affairs, Brexit and trump and French elections. If you go in without having prepared for it you will struggle - reading The Guardian/Telegraph is a must, also I'd know the current whistleblower scandal inside out. That said, they are so lovely, really accommodating and very straightforward - they'll let you know how you got on very quickly, and have no problem fitting their internship around the other firm's. Plus, to have even gotten this far they will really have liked your application

Nope just want to be put out of my misery at this stage ha

Personally I'd be surprised if they've gotten back before the end of February.

Seems likely at this stage, although at the end of the interview they did indicate it would be sooner rather than later...The wait continues

You can get lucky with local solicitors and apply at a time when they're thinking of looking for someone, and I know some practices are willing to take people on for a couple of weeks or a month etc. I applied to six and was lucky enough to get three responses. You just have to get over the initial awkwardness of sending out speculative applications.

Did you apply in person or send applications in through email? I definitely do feel awkward in case they reject me in a bad way.

I did it the real old-fashioned way and sent letters in the post; I figured it would be harder to ignore a physical letter, they could take more time to read it and they could read it in their own time and not dismiss it like an email if they were in a hurry etc.

I was going to do this in October and it took four months of overthinking before I just said feck it. Remember most solicitors are pretty used to people looking for work experience, internships etc. As for rejections, some won't get back to you at all but generally those who do are nice about it and explain why they can't or don't take on students.

    Best of luck :)

Does anyone have any experience with Dillon Eustace interviews? Quite nervous as I've no idea what to expect!

I did an interview with them last year and it was very relaxed. It was basically just a run through my application. I didn't get it in the end and I think that was due to the fact that they didn't ask challenging questions - I didn't push my strengths and achievements. You need to create the opportunity to talk about these.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Go in having prepared to talk about current affairs (in case they ask you on this) and know your CV inside out.

For TC's its two interviews, for summer internships its one. It's with two partners or a partner and senior associate or just a senior associate depending on the amount of people they're interviewing and their own schedules/workload.

All interviews are different in all firms and you can't exactly predict what it will be like. They can vary even within the same firms and different people often have totally different experiences in the same firms.

If you're prepared to talk about your application, some competency questions (like "tell us a time you persuaded a team" or something like that), why law, why the firm and potentially some commercial awareness questions then you'll be fine. Some people go in and they go through all that, for others, it could just be about the application and nothing else.

Perfect thanks so much. Prepared for all of that just wasn't sure if firms ever went further than that kind of mould. Really appreciate that!

An internship in law school is essentially a requirement before starting your law career. I don't have any idea when we hear about it .

Have had 2 TC interviews with them and a internship one also. Nicest firm to interview for in my opinion, very relaxed. They dont seem overly concerned with news stories/issues, although they're good to mention. Otherwise yup just be yourself, know your application, don't spoof and you'll have a good chance!

The firms take ages getting back to people most of the time. The waiting is the worst part!
