    Probably because if you replaced knacker with n*gger you would be banned. For some reason only certain people are entitled to not be insulted.

    In Dublin, knacker is a word used for scumbags/scobies. I rarely if ever hear it used for travellers. Pretty sure it was boards that taught me that it's sometimes used in that context.

    I'm just pointing out that it's not, to the best of my experience, used in that context in Dublin.

    It doesn't matter how it's said by a few people in Dublin. It matters that the poster knows exactly what it means.
