VW Touran key not turning in ignition

    just looking to see if anyone has any advice. VW Touran, older model '04 put key in ignition last night but only turned enough for radio, dash lights to come on. Steering wasnt locked. Moved it around for awhile and finally started up. Was fine coming back from other end of journey. Tried this morning and the same thing but no radio, lights coming on and after trying for over two hrs, key still isnt turning in ignition. Tried wd40 and moving it over and back while moving steering but no joy. Any advice would be great on this Sunday morning with no mechanic open?

    So can you turn the steering wheel much? Is the steering lock on?

    Yeh it can turn a good bit and tried moving keys at same time but no use.
