I second Waitrose. There isn't much alternative to M&S for premium supermarkets.

We also don't have any large electronic/hardware/computer shops. PC world isn't great for much else than laptops and is expensive. The nearest resemblance to a good computer shop, Maplin is fairly small and overpriced.
There's nothing here that even comes close to Saturn or MediaMarkt in Germany.

Also there are no old fashioned, atmospheric cafes here other than Bewleys which is closed.

Used to live in North Carolina and spent the weekends down at the Outer Banks near Nags Head.

Only place I've ever seen this place

    http://brewthru.com/

Basically it's an off licence you drive through. Imagine the carnage here!!

You drive through the store and they hand stuff to you through your window. If ever near one go to it for the experience.

Can we all agree here and now, to never inform any of the Healy-Raes of the existence of such a place?

Cat, dog, rabbit, and bird cafes like there are in Japan.

Go and get a drink and relax while looking at/petting the cute critturs.

I went to go to one of these one evening (long story)
Got to the door and it was just closed....but there was a distint smell of cats piss in the stairwell going upto it

I did not make a second attempt

Pret and EAT. Relatively decent high street lunch offerings from both.

    Zizzi's Italian restaurants.

there are no high street pay day loan shops in the free state, i think they are dying out anyway as they have a brutal reputation

Surprised they haven't made a move into Europe.

Hugely profitable for the parent company (who also own Victoria's Secret)

    Used knickers in vending machines

There are a few ladies in Galway and Dublin who sell panties, numerous ladies in Dublin actually

    There's a Zizzi in Dundrum :)

Most of the ones I miss have already been mentioned- Whole Foods and Cinnabon mainly, and better/more options for groceries.

Just thought of something else- decent bakeries like they have on the continent, with a decent selection of bread and pastries, and also savoury snacks you can have for your lunch. I know there are a few bakeries here now, but in terms of quality the ones I've tried weren't great.

    Daiso.
    100 montaditos.
Pintxo bars (not €7 pintxos like porterhouse in dublin)

Febo in Amsterdam - beloved by stoners the world over!

    Carrefour and Dunkin Donuts.

Honestly can't believe Carrefour never tried the Irish market. Puts Tescos to shame. Everything from a spanner to cheese.

Dunkin Donuts? No idea why they pulled out of Ireland. An easy spot for a coffee and donut for biz meetings, social etc. Did Ireland get too posh?

Anyway, my offering is Jamiacan food. Not much of it about in Ireland. Considering we tend to have our heads up our arses regarding food, I'm surprised some enterprising person hasn't tried to establish this, because its great grub and actually very well suited to an above average takeaway setting.

    Such an amazing place!
Something for literally every sport and outdoor activity!
Could spend ages just wandering around.
So reasonable and good quality stuff too.

Recently discovered they now deliver to Ireland! Not sure if it's a new development or always been. Delivery only took a couple of days.

I was thinking of that place. But I'd also add decent street food. Nearly every city in Europe has food stalls around the place where you can grab a snack but not Ireland.

Why don't we have an Esprit here? I love their clothes

I'm pretty sure at one stage there was a burger/hot dog dispenser on Dame st somewhere.
I love those pizza machines in France. You put a few quid in and it bakes you a pizza there and then and spits it out at you in a box. How cool would that be!

    We had.
Used to be dundrum and Henry st, as well as a concession in Arnotts.
Seems they've closed and left Ireland for now though... Probably went during the downturn it seems.

We do, or used to anyway. There was one in the Blanchardstown Centre a few years back.

They pulled out of the UK as well I think a few years ago. I really like their stuff too, often order stuff online now.
