Opel Corsa 2004 making clunking noise.

No noise when it is put in reverse but once you press on the accelerator it makes a clunking noise like you have hit something metallic.

Doesn't happen once car has been driven for a while. only happens on first reverse after start up.

    Any ideas?

If you put the cluth down when the car is moving in reverse does the sound go away?

It only happens at the start of acceleration and then stops so the clutch is down at the time.

Have you checked there isn't a chicken behind your car?.

I had something similar on one of my cars, was due to worn out engine mounts.

Also check your exhaust mounts, flexi pipe from exhaust headers.
