Sorry I included UK countries separately - are they not countries?0 -
1- England (live here 8 years, have seen very little outside London)
2 - Wales (drove to pembroke for the ferry, it was sh*te)
3- Scotland ( tenuous, spent a night on the lash in Edinburgh)
4) France (Paris for a weekend as a kid and recently went back there for a weekend last month, great town)
5) Germany (weekend on the lash in Berlin)
6) Basque Country (twice been, amazing, distinct and unique part of the world. Hugely missed out. Fascinating language and culture)
7) Spain (been to Leon for Easter and Barcelona with a college geography trip)
8) Italy (week's family holiday to Tuscany when I was 15)
9) Netherlands (Amsterdam four times)
10) Belgium (weekend in Brussels and Bruges, alright in small doses)
11) Malta (Delightful spot, cheap and full of history and culture)
12) Greece (spent a week in and around Athens during all the political strife, would go back in a heartbeat)
13) Turkey (spent a month here in my late teens for political stuff and it was class, managed to visit Kurdistan live in a predominantly Turkish area now and must go back soon)
14) Israel (stayed briefly en route to Palestine, Tel Aviv is mental but hard to enjoy after seeing the West Bank occupation)
15) Palestine (stayed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Lovey hospitable people putting up with a lot of sh*t. Eye opening)
16 - Iran (one of the best countries I've been to, spent 17 days going from the north to the far south, magnificent and diverse scenery, amazing history and culture and safe. Food isn't great)
17- Morocco (been three times, love it. I look Arab though so don't get half the hassle. Rif Mountains is stunning and plenty eh local produce)
18- Algeria (amazing place, best country I've ever been. Absolutely no tourists but the most helpful people ever. No English spoken and hard to get a visa but highlight of my travels I'd say)
19- Ghana (went with my missus, she wasn't too enamoured, it was her third time there, but I thought it a great insight into west Africa. Some sound people and off the beaten track moments.
20 - USA (spent a week in Nevada and California, good old laugh. Went with my ex and her family who are all a bit painful but alright nonetheless. Need rod Stewart, gas man)
21- Cuba (went over and boxed in Havana and learned a bit of Spanish. Great spot in fairness, a world apart.)
22- Bangladesh (spent three weeks there on my own, absolutely mental gaff. No tourists at all and crowds of people follow you around like a celebrity. Horrendous poverty)
23- Nepal (probably the best gaff I've been to, went three months before the earthquake. Was only there for a week but trekked the Kathmandu valley up to the base of the Himalayas and stayed locally. Utterly stunning and transfixing place. Was glad of the booze after Bangladesh.
Upcoming:
Back to the Basque Country for a Spanish course and have a trip to Southern Africa planned for July for my 30th, Zambia, Zim, Namibia and Botswana; typical auld circuit.0 -

Moved to Ireland from the US a few years back and since then I've had the opportunity to visit a fair number of places in Europe; it's been quite awesome. So far my full list would be:
- United States - Born and raised here (in Orlando, FL), then lived in Atlanta, GA for a decade or so before moving to Ireland. Orlando was all right, though there wasn't much to it besides the theme parks in those years; I hear the city center is a lot more vibrant these days. I really did like living in Atlanta; much better job market, tons of good restaurants, and lots of green space throughout the city. Visited several places in the South through the years, both while growing up and later on; some of my favorites were Tybee Island, GA (lovely little beach town on an island, not overdeveloped like many along the coast there), St. Augustine, FL (another lovely bit of beach and the city of St. Augustine is a lovely historic spot, closest thing the US has to a truly "old" city...), Chattanooga, TN (nice little city on the GA-TN border by the Tennessee River), Blue Ridge, GA (lovely little town in the middle of the north Georgia mountains), and Asheville, NC (a small city in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains, very cool vibe, lots of great food and beer).
- Canada - Spent a week in Quebec some years ago, while I still lived in the US; a few nights in Quebec City and a few in Montreal. Quebec City was quite nice; stayed in a lovely B&B in the old town. The old city definitely has a European feel to it, right down to everyone speaking French, but is still quite Canadian as well; it's a unique mixture for sure. It's small, but there's some pretty streets to wander and some lovely buildings on display. Montreal was an interesting spot, as well; the old port area also felt rather European, but the rest of the city was a vibrant mix of cultures. Definitely a cool spot.
- Ireland - Visited back in 2011 for a couple weeks, stayed in Dingle, Kinsale, Waterford, and Kilkenny, fell in love with the place, and finally found myself a job here a few years later. Now I live over in Killaloe and absolutely love it here. Taken a few long weekends to explore a bit here, mostly up in Connemara and County Mayo so far. Beautiful part of the country up there.
- Germany - Spent a few nights in Munich in May. Cool city; liked the old town and the market, and the impressive churches and architecture. The Deutsches Museum was also awesome. Had the best Schnitzel ever at Andy's Krablergarten.
- Austria - Spent a few nights in Salzburg during the same trip as Munich. It's a lovely city, probably the most beautiful I've seen so far. The old city is small, but full of stunning architecture and gorgeous baroque churches on every corner, and the views from the fortress and the Kapuzinerkloster are amazing, looking over the fields and suburbs and the spires of the old city with the Alps in the background. Caught a lovely concert in one of the old palaces, which was wonderful, and had what was probably my best meal ever at Esszimmer (a close second would be Bacchanalia in Atlanta). Overall Salzburg was one of my favorite places so far.
- Poland - Spent a few nights in Krakow and a few in Wroclaw in the fall. Krakow was a fun city, though the old town did feel very touristy. Plenty to see, including some lovely churches and markets, and of course Wawel Castle. Wroclaw felt a lot more lived in, even in the old town, and I honestly liked it better than Krakow. Lots of lovely architecture as well, the squares were just as nice as Krakow's Rynek Główny (loved the flower market in Salt Square). The permanent market hall was very nice, and the views across the Oder of Cathedral Island at sunset were really beautiful. Great city to just chill in for a few days.
- Spain - Spent a few nights in Seville in November and a few nights in Malaga in March. Seville was definitely my favorite of the two; it's a beautiful and vibrant city, lots of sights to see (the Real Alcazar and the gardens are stunning, and of course the cathedral is amazing as well), flamenco (saw a fantastic show in the tiniest theater ever in the middle of the old market hall in Triana), and excellent wine and tapas everywhere. Another one of my favorites, for sure. Malaga was a nice city as well, with a lovely pedestrianized old section, a nice harbourfront, and the beach of course. Stayed in a lovely little hotel in the historic district, right next to one of the historic churches. Saw several interesting museums (really liked the Museo Unicaja de Artes y Costumbres Populares in a historic inn, and the art museums were excellent as well), and the Alcazaba was a fascinating example of an old Moorish citadel. Definitely worth a visit.
- Italy - Spent about ten days in northern Italy in May, a few nights in Bergamo and then several nights in a few different spots around Lago di Como (Como, Argegno, and Bellagio). Full writeup is in the above link, but suffice to say it was the most beautiful area I've seen yet, by far, and I will definitely be returning at some point. Definitely my favorite trip of all so far.
- Portugal - Spent a little over a week here in the fall, a few nights in Guimarães and then several in Porto. Guimarães was a cool first stop; a small but very lovely historic town centre, and the castle and the Palace of the Dukes are lovely as well. Lots of history in that city, being the "birthplace of Poland". I was there during the terrible wildfires last October, and the whole city was covered by smoke and ash for most of my time there (hence no pictures worthy of posting, alas). Also, the family that ran the hotel I stayed in gave me a terrible cold. It was still a cool place to visit, though. I definitely loved Porto as well, even if I spent my first day or so there stuck in bed with a fever and definitely didn't get to see as much or drink as much port as I'd planned as a result. It's a fascinating city, really; not quite as touristy as many I've been to. Had some truly excellent food in a little cafe near where I was staying, Petisqueira Voltaria; the family who runs the place is awesome, their black pork cheek sandwich is absolutely the best sandwich I have ever had, and everything else they serve is excellent as well.
- UK - Been to the UK a few times. First time was a trip to London with a friend of mine way, way back in 2007 or so. It was my first trip overseas, and I had a great time; London is a fascinating city (though it does wear on me after a few days, I'll grant you; it's just so busy and noisy and crowded all the time). I returned several years later for another trip with some family (the year before I moved here, actually); this time we only stayed in London for a few days, then spent a few nights in Edinburgh, a few nights on Orkney, a night in a beautiful castle hotel in Northumberland, and a night in a B&B in a tiny village in the Cotswolds before flying back home. It was a great trip, all in all; Edinburgh is a lovely and historic city, and Orkney was beautiful and fascinating, especially all the Neolithic and Iron Age ruins. The English castle we stayed at, Langley Castle (treated my mom for Mother's Day) was beautiful as well, and we loved the sweet old lady who ran the Cotswolds B&B we stayed at. My most recent trip to the UK was this spring, when my brother came to visit from the US and we spent several days in Scotland, on the Isle of Skye and in Inverness. Skye has some truly stunning and unique scenery, for sure; it was a great trip. Inverness was nice as well; we had an apartment overlooking the river that was absolutely beautiful.
Those are all the trips I've made so far, though I've got a couple more on tap this year; spending a few nights in Tallinn, Estonia in early September and then ten days in the Alsace region of France in late October. Really looking forward to those.0 -

I'm fond of the Caribbean. Here is info https://www.blueparadise-dr.com/best-places-visit-in-the-caribbean/ about the most beautiful places in the Caribbean. I've already visited Aruba, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. This year I spent my summer vacation in Blue Paradise resort in the Dominican Republic and it was probably the best summer vacation I ever had! It is a unique resort which offers fully privately owned beachfront property in the Caribbean and high-class escort service. Next year I want to visit the Bahamas. I'm sure it will be unforgettable trip!0
