Can anybody tell me what this looks like? Is it rotting or mould or something? Need ot be thrown out or would be ok if its just cleaned?
No bad smell off it and no signs of mould elsewhere in the room

Looks liquid related. Give cleaning a try.

Looks like mould. Clean it with some soap & warm water & a scouring pad (not a brillo pad - use the lighter kitchen ones), and then dry it out with a portable heater. Looks like laminate on chipboard though, so may peel. Just glue it back down if it does.

Looks badly stained too though. Buy one of those small test samples of white paint & paint over it. That's probably all you can do with it. Clean, dry, paint.

    Weird.
