For some reason I don't quite but your story Julieann but that could just be my suspicious nature....when is your wedding? What does 'I have no courtyard' mean?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Julieann123

Sorry optigirl I'm all over the place so upset, they said the courtyard will have no access as it will be a building site,so guests have no where to stay only in house , it has only 10 bedrooms
I asked where they building yesterday she said no but a big digger outside,

Ah lads- I am absolutely terrified now. Wedding in a few weeks.

I'm sorry to hear that. I had heard some weddings later this year were affected by the renovations. If it's any consolation there are loads of hotels nearby; Becketts, Lucan Spa, the Courtyard, Leixlip House Hotel and the Glenroyal in Maynooth.

We are in the same position got an email today saying we can't use the courtyard for our guests which is going to be a big loss we were looking forward to having a late night bar and for the guests to be able to be just a stone throw away from there bed and it feels like it's taking that moment away from us, now we need to find out if we still have access to the gardens for photographs, we've already paid €2,500 on the deposit which is non refundable and we're not happy at all about this news... if anyone has been in touch with them and they have helped in any way to accommodate for these conditions will they please let us know asap thanks

If you were sold the idea that the courtyard would be availabe for guests then I think the deposit should be refundable - you are not getting the service you were promised. I would push that with them if you decide to move venues - it's a lot of money

Hi - I got the email too about the courtyard being closed and was just wondering if anyone got anymore details from them??? Does it affect the grounds or gardens at all or just the rooms? Is anyone being offered refunds? ðŸ˜

We haven't cancelled ours yet, which is in October as well, as I wanted to sort out an alternative first.
I asked them straight away what kind of works they are planning on doing-they said they can't give any information and if we want to cancel they will be more than happy to give our money back...She didn't even apologise once and the tone suggested that they couldn't care less...

Thanks for that update - did you go to meet them or was this over the phone/email?

This was over the email. We were going to go and see them, however after we got a reply re deposit we realised there is no point...they didn't even suggest anything or offer to come out and visit them to find a solution etc.
Last week was the most stressful week we experienced, so my aim was to sort something else out as soon as possible as at this stage we are back to square one re planning.

@anya_t when is your wedding booked for?

Slightly panicking as I've just found out about all this because I went online to see if I could find out information as Ive been trying to contact them for weeks now.

Our wedding was booked for October. They told us that the works are starting from September and will go on for 9-12 months. They don't have the permission yet though.
So, I am guessing that only those who have their weddings after high season (summer) are affected.

Steer clear of the leixlip house hotel. It being used as emergency accommodation for Dublin City Council, apparently the rooms are in a dire state. And caterers are called in for weddings

Leixlip House Hotel & Leixlip manor are two different places, just to clarify

I contacted them last week by email & got a response and invitation to come out to see them within minutes. I know it should be up to them to contact but at least somebody did respond straight away.

It sounds like post September 2017, there will be issues with accommodation for guests as they are upgrading - obviously they should refund anyone who has booked for this timeframe who wants to now find somewhere else & they absolutely should have contacted everybody rather than waiting for the couples to contact them.

    Hi lasair,

Just wondering how everything went for you? My wedding is in a couple of weeks and honestly the new management have not been helpful so I'm just a bit worried about how the day itself will run. Wondering if I should get in a day of manager myself to deal with the management as honestly I think dealing with them on the day will only be frustrating/upsetting at this stage.

I'd recommend getting out there to finalise stuff - just to put your mind at ease. Am up and down with this - one minute I'm freaking out, the next I'm assuring myself they have to step up in order to keep their business....

Yeah I'm meeting them tomorrow. Honestly I just feel like they don't care about the people who have currently booked at all which is pretty terrifying. Would just be nice to find out how things at a wedding this year have gone and how they are during the day.

I would just message them and ask for carol she will seriously put you at ease. My day is literally 13 days away so if I take snaps I will send you them by message ;)
