Teaching in the UAE - Salary Expectations?

    Hi guys, just wondering what a secondary school maths teacher with 10 years experience could expect in terms of a salary in the UAE? Thinking of going as trying to save for a house deposit here is impossible. Really appreciate any reply.

    I actually don't have any figures but two of my cousins moved out to Abu Dhabi a few years ago to teach, one for the exact same reasons as yourself. Even though he's saved little or nothing, due to the fact he's a terrible saver and loves traveling, I suspect he still believes he's done the right thing. It sounds like they have a fantastic lifestyle out there and better opportunities to save. Best of luck with whatever you decide

    My understanding is that the salary is generally the same, however as accommodation is provided and as the salary is tax-free, it is possible to save.

    Having said that, what always seems to happen is that during the first year, people go nuts as they enjoy the new lifestyle and don't save much, but start after the second and subsequent years.

    And UAE is very expensive in terms of eating out and drinks.
