look a lot better if he wound down the torsion bars a few inches, but still a standout car amongst the grey and black econo-boxes in town

Okay so while not strictly (or at all) on the road I figured these are worthy of posting. The old Transport Museum in Howth has loads of old stuff sitting around outside, none of which - by the looks of things - will see restoration any time soon.

This orange truck - whatever it is - said CIE on the side in faded letters. Any ideas what it was for?

I have some more photos from inside the barns that I could upload. Buses, military stuff, fire appliances etc.

Its a cool place, I was last there a long long time ago so figured it was worth the €4 for another look with my camera.

    Same thing.

Only I'd be dragging it outta that truck, I'm afraid !

There was a rusted up solid flathead engine lying in the scrap pile on our farm for probably fifty years. The father bought it because apparently the Ford NAN tractor engine was supposed to be basically half of a flathead, don't think much turned out to be interchangeable though.

May have been used in the construction and maintenance of the railway network - for transporting railway sleepers or similar type tasks.

Sidevalve in Ireland, Ford America and bloody overrated Harley Davidson have a lot to answer for with their makey uppey "technical" terms. The other engine you're trying to describe is an I.O.E ( inlet over exhaust) Rolls Royce had one for a few years after having a conventional ohv engine first!! The exhaust valves are in the engine block( sidevalve style) with the inlets in the head (overhead valve style). I think the yanks tried calling that valve arrangement (that they couldn't do properly) an F head...

Was over in Prague for a few days last week and spotted some cars.
This looked like it never moved for the week.
