Bmw sat nav maps

    Any idea what sort of ball park price a BMW main dealer would charge for a satnav update ?

    Get in touch with Germaniks here on boards. He does all that kind of thing and I'd say for a lot less than €170.

    I'm in the process of doing it myself.
    Just got a lifetime fsc.

    Now just need to get my hands on the maps.

    What type of idrive do you have? Is the Sat Nav DVD based or CIC/NBT?

    You can buy the DVD based maps off the net for about €25 or if CIC/NBT then you can download the files for free but would need to buy a generated FSC code based on the car's VIN from someone on one of the BMW forums for about €50, to decript the maps.

    $18 for a lifetime fsc

    Getting maps for free is time consuming.

    Might just pay €5 for 48hr access to fast download

    I'm due a service soon, kearys in cork (still under warranty)
    And I'm gonna ask them how much for a nav update... no intention of getting it from them

    Last time I saw him he was working in Belfast (November). He usually comes back on Saturdays to a garage in near Rathcoole. May have changed since then though.

    Why do you need map updates, they've hardly opened a new motorway here since the crash?

    The maps cover more than just this country.

    Other countries have built roads.
