Not sure why that Hidden History yoke is on such day time radio show. It's a very niche subject. Should be on at the same time as Myles Dungan's show if they have to put it on air.

One of the high points of the show in my opinion.

Maybe because I am mot Irish but I find his contributions very interesting. I don't often catch the whole thing because I am in and out of the car but I loved it on Breakfast Show and I think it's great now.

I just don't think Chris is quite able for it. He was good in the side-kick role to Ivan but I just don't think he can hack it.

What really annoyed me was this exchange:

FG guy says I haven't been talking to my colleagues about the succession, that's not my style.

A few minutes later, obviously referring to something he had heard in the media "One of my colleagues was saying the other day the ball is in Enda Kenny's court.

Chris, jumping on this like he's Jeremy Paxman: "A-ha, so you have been talking to them about the leadership."

You would wonder all those champions of the left and where they were when one of their own gave a glowing tribute to Fidel Castro.

Fidel Castro’s Horrific Record on Gay Rights

It's like I've always said, if you are somebody with left leaning views in this country, the liberal media like Newstalk give you a free pass. Can you imagine if Enda Kenny or Donald Trump had made the same remarks about Castro? What matters more to the media is WHO makes the statement, not what they are saying.

    Fake news.

Interesting article. Highlights the treatment of gays in a revolutionary, communist country from the 60s to the 80s.
Apart from the torture element contained in Castro's Cuba, the treatment of gays in european catholic Ireland from the 60s to the 80s wasn't so great either.

'Apart from the torture element contained in Castro's Cuba, ......'

That's quite a lot of human suffering and institutional cruelty you're glossing over there, don't you think!?

The 'treatment'of Gays in Ireland from the 60s to the 80s may have been far from perfect but it was a world away from the authoritarian and institutionalized torture that was administered in Cuba.

Haven't heard him in this new role yet, but I did enjoy him on Breakfast with Chris. They made a good duo. And like someone previously mentioned, I think getting him on 'Drive' would be a good move. But it'll be a while before that happens. Love him or hate him, he makes it interesting. He's very smart and knows what he's up to. Enjoys playing dumb and winding it up at times. But has a good knowledge across many topics. IMO of course ;)

your work......cant say I"ve come across your name anyplace...perhaps you"re Chris de Burgh in disguise...if so then I"m with familiar Lady in Red but I"ll hold my counsel on that one.

The Ryanair/Wheelchair user item. She didn't notify them beforehand that she required wheelchair assistance for her change of flight. Had she done so all of this would have been avoided. Maybe they could have been more considerate but ground crew/pilots are under severe pressure to keep flights on schedule and forgetting to inform them is not their problem - it's yours.

They put her on the next flight free for charge.

    Jonathan Healy material.

I was listening to that bit earlier, knew all wasn't what it seemed with that story. Such a non-story.

Have to say this was one of the worst news pieces I have heard in a long time. Fake outrage that she was asked could she walk up the stairs even though almost everyone knows a large number of people who use wheelchairs in Airports can walk short distances themselves - especially those who do not book wheelchair assistance. I did admire the honesty of the lady in actually admitting that she didn't book the assistance for the flight and she didn't know if the person who she was dealing with actually worked for Ryanair or the airport.

Did she admit that on radio? She's certainly not owning up to it on Facebook. Coming across as a right narky madam to anyone questioning her. I've never seen so much support for Ryanair on an issue!

I'd say she's in second year media studies at DIT Grangegorman, assuming that's what you mean and not a sideswipe at the mentally ill!
