I don't see Tony posing Conor any problems whatsoever as long as Conor approaches the fight in the same vein as Diaz II and Alvarez.

Khabib poses obvious problems which we haven't seen him handle before.

You can't whore yourself on social media and to every media outlet in the world though and then not expect people to approach you for photos etc. It comes with the territory. He needs to understand that if he continues to do this, he can't stroll into McDonald's on Grafton Street for a McFlurry.

he should copyright that for when he hits his opponent with 6 consecutive shots in a couple of seconds

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Yeah I have to say I felt the tone of the article came from the writer and not necessarily McGregor, I would have liken to seen a transcript of the actual conversation rather than the writers opinion on how he read McGregor. Seemed like he only added in his actual questions when it suited him.
(Side note: did he refer to Crumlin as a county? :D)

Other than that though I don't see that much of a change in McG to be honest, he always gets like this when promoting a fight and this is him promoting/angling for the Mayweather fight. He probably is more full on than ever but hey millions of dollars and a ton of success will do that to a person, I'm still a fan though :P

You'd think for someone with so much money and so image conscious he would finally sort out that armpit problem. I'm aware us Irish are not used to the sun but it was 16 degrees outside in Vegas yesterday and he was indoors in an air conditioned building, yet he's still dripping from the armpits.

Unless he's launching his own line of deoderant soon.

"I once lasted 8 minutes with a triathlete. Now thanks to MacFresh for men, I can last 25 minutes and still not destroy my $5,000 shirt with armpit sweat"

Haha. I'm still a huge fan! Part of being a fan is criticism. I like Radiohead a lot but Pablo Honey is still an over-rated pile of poo. I support Ireland but will still call Schmidt or O' Neill out for bad selection/tactics.

I criticized Conor over the Luka Jelcic situation where Luka was scratching around for a few hundred quid sponsorship and Conor could easily have helped him (but didn't) given how important Luka has been in training over the years. Which looks even worse now he boasts about dropping 27 grand in one shop regularly.

There will come a point where he turns even the most ardent, diehard fans off him. He's nowhere near that point yet but there is a real tipping point where any athlete/celebrity can alienate their own fans.

What that tipping point is for me, personally, I don't know. All I know is complaining that Dolce and Gabana didn't throw in $1,000 worth of freebies is the exact entitled attitude that himself and his Coach always claim they are against. It's not something I can personally relate to.

If fight does go ahead under ufc banner. Which i think is the only way it will happen, will there be a cage and a ring? I cant see flyod wearing reebok for 2K haha

I dont think it will happen

Probably a hybrid fight card. Octagon for 4 fights, Boxing ring for 4 bouts.

Nevada State Athletic Commission Director (Bob Bennett) quoted today:

“Would the Nevada State Athletic Commission consider a boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor? Of course we would,”

Shocked. Lol. He went on to say it was dependent on Conor paying his fine, but on that subject he added:

"Every commission wants Conor to fight in its state,” Bennett said. “We keep everyone under the guidelines of our codes and statutes. But if we’ve done a wrong, we need to right that wrong. The chairman and I think the penalties were too stiff.

So they'll sort out his fine and grant him his license this week.

Whatever happened with Diaz did he get the same punishment as Conor?

doubt itll be promoted under the ufc banner or in a cage, will probably either be under mayweather productions and the ufc just take their chunk out of conors cut or have both the ufc and mayweather promotions as co-promoters like they did with top rank for the Pacquiao fight.
if i was the ufc though id be trying to make it so mcgregor mayweather isnt the only ''mma vs boxing'' type fight on the card

also, wasnt floyd on reebok before anyway?

Nah he got a lesser punishment but his hearing was held after Pat Lundvall left her role.

She was the Hawk on that panel. I think the rest of them would be happy to just chill out a bit now. I expect he'll get a $25,000 fine and do his little anti-bullying commercial.

It's a fairly small fine for McGregor when he's dropping 25 grand in a couple of hours shopping. Don't see the point in the argument at all.

On the article, a few very hardcore Mcgregor fanboys I know have read it and seem to be becoming disinterested with him. These would be the sort that wouldn't really have interest in MMA but would watch all his fights and follow him and his opponents closely. These are the type of fans that make McGregor money, so it's in his interest to keep them following him.

There will always be people who will support him and idolise him regardless, and there will always be people who hate him and want to see him lose. Whatever he does or says. But the important people are the ones who will watch his press conferences to see him trash talk, want to see him KO opponents as quickly as possible after insulting them in the build up. This is what has made him money, these people will also buy PPVs, attend his interviews and weigh ins.

He could lose these fans quicker than I feel he thinks. Say in pure MMA terms, a loss to Khabib/Ferguson, followed by maybe a loss to Diaz or Aldo, would damage interest I think. If he's not winning then it's no fun watching him trash talk, he's become someone like Chael.

People will say the Diaz loss did him no harm, that maybe true but if he had lost the rematch a lot of the faith people have in his abilities would be lost.

In reality the Mayweather fight seems to be the next logical option in terms of money. And on the face of it, it seems like a no lose situation. I feel there's a lot to lose. He would be exposed to more people than ever, and if he acts like he did in that interview (or the way it comes off), I don't think he'd pick up many new fans. Hardcore boxing fans will want Mayweather to win anyway.

If Floyd then goes on to KO him early, McGregor won't really have a lot he could say in the aftermath. He would in a way be going back to the UFC with his tail between his legs.

Wont be going back to the UFC every again if he gets the Floyd fight, 50m payday for example hes taking that and high tailing it home to live off along with the rest of his dough no need to fight in mma.

    Nah.

He talks about being a billionaire so much. Whether it's a pipe dream or not, I think he's serious about it. Not a hope he "bounces" after a 50m payday. He'll fight into his mid-30's.

I was thinking the same. He has an expensive lifestyle these days, like anyone it's easy to spend more money but no so easy to cut back.

It's like when you read stories of Euro Millions winners ending up flat broke and in debt. You think "HOW!!" or "JESUS you'd need to be a moron".

And that might be true, to an extent. But it seems very easy to spend a lot of money when you have a lot of it and if he's dropping 27 grand on clothes in shops and spending hundreds of thousands on watches regularly then he'd want to keep making a lot.

If he changed his lifestyle to a fairly "normal" one, he could live 50 lifetimes on the money he has now.

He's going to make his money on the silver screen. Apparently he is as talented as an actor as he is a fighter.

Decent video here. Doesn't come across half as bad as that woeful GQ article.

Oh man the article is atrocious from McGregor's point of view.

To me it reads like he is totally disconnected from his roots.

What the hell did he mean that he wanted to see the Kardashian bum?

How the hell can he afford to spend thousands on clothes on a weekly basis? Likewise I'm assuming he has to pay Charlie Ward a full time wage.

Conor is on the road to financial ruin if he keeps that up.

It's a GQ article. I don't read GQ, but I'd imagine it caters for a certain demographic. Style, arrogance, higher-roller appearances. I don't read too much into it or the relevant of its regular readers to MMA.
And two wins would propel him further. Such is the fickle nature of MMA and sport in general.

If Floyd then goes on to KO him early, McGregor won't really have a lot he could say in the aftermath. He would in a way be going back to the UFC with his tail between his legs.
Not really. It's a different sport. One that he has never done. I don't think there's any doubt that in an actual fight, McGregor destroys him. This is boxing not fighting. He's really not expected to even get close to winning.

In a similar fashion, Floyd has no hope in MMA. So that logical inference is that somewhere in the middle a neutral ruleset exists. I'm honestly not sure what it would be, but I'm certain it would never happen.

The interest on the money he made last year is probably $20k a week.
GQ is a fashion and expensive magazine, it's in their interest focus on the shopping, designer brands etc.

Fair point but as McGregor says in the article he only makes proper money when fighting. Real rich people make money every second (property etc)

Making 10s of thousands a week from interest, endorsements, appearances etc is all well and good. But it's always going to pale along side making multi-million dollar paycheques for fighting.

Sports, in particularly MMA and boxing and non linear income streams. Just the way it is. Not really much point in comparing that to a property developer.
When retires, I'd imagine he'd have set up a much more linear income stream. Wouldn't be difficult given his means right now.
