Ken's analysis of ancelotti and Bayern was a bit weak but otherwise a great show today

I just joined up today looking forward to the podcasts but the political ones I hope will be objective and balanced otherwise I will be pulling my subscription away from them and showing them that there are alternative voices.

I don't get this from a lot of posters, "if they don't post content I agree with I'll pull support and that'll show them". If you're expecting them to suddenly turn into right wingers then you'll be sorely mistaken i'd say. While i'm sure they'll have opinions from various sources, i wouldn't expect to hear "alternative voices" whatever they are. Anyone who has listened to them in the past few years will know what to expect I would assume.

What part of "objective and balanced" don't you understand?

I'm not looking to hear my own opinions repeated back to me, I am looking for a bit more nuance and a little bit less two-dimensional Guardian viewpoints.

I'm currently a subscriber to The Anfield Wrap, same price a month. They've at least 7/8 shows a week. At the start I felt like I had to listen to everything and in a way doing that helped me realise what I did and didn't like. Now I pick and choose shows and it's great content.

I don't expect to listen to everything that Second Captains produce but I reckon I'll definitely get my money's worth. It might be a silly argument but considering it's the price of two coffees or a pint in most places, a price most people pay without giving it a second thought, it's not too bad.

You'd have been better giving your money to Breitbart.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with anything that earlier poster had to say...

Do they have the terrible pre-recorded filler "mixes" on the paid for podcasts? .

Sent him off! Sent the dirty ghet off! Get him off the field! That were diabolical!

It's the same two or three posters over and over again.

Look i'm not going to get into a political debate with someone on this forum but I think we can all guess what you mean given your post history by "objective and balanced". Its not going to happen and constantly commenting on the political sections of previous pods and now expecting them to suddenly change tact is a waste of everyones time including yours. Second Captains have a pretty obvious liberal slant, this isn't going to change, if you want serious political debate I expect you'll have to look elsewhere though I suspect the coverage you want will only be found from very specific news sources.

Personally I'm hoping the political podcasts will be a light hearted take on current affairs and hopefully look at Irish politics as wells as US.

Personally I'm praying they will speak to political correspondents in the areas they are speaking about. Could be a good show then. Ken asking questions more than giving opinions.

So you just want your views reenforced.

Yeah that would be good, though I've a feeling there will be a lot of Kens opinions. But then thats the appeal to a lot, you either like Ken or you don't and if you don't then theres not much point in listening.

I like Ken and his opinions for football because i can listen and make my own mind up whether i agree or not but when it comes to politics i want to listen to people who are as close as possible to the action as i would not be as well informed and I don't believe Ken is as informed as he needs to be to drive a politics show on his own opinion. Its not his fault but when you live in Dublin you can't really know what's what in the middle east, in the US midwest or the coasts, even in the UK. I trust they realise this.

Well they're open to feedback if you've got decent advice - they won't want to lose paying customers

Fairly par for the course football show today. As another poster previously said, skipping over a few episodes here and there isn't necessarily a bad thing to get to the content you really like.

I don't mind the football chat but I'm signed up to other football podcasts so I don't really feel like I'm missing out on anything that hasn't been covered elsewhere.

Certainly don't mind missing the football chat but the two interviews during the week have been an excellent listen.
