Rowing... Not a good start to the paid ones for me! I can't expect to listen to them all though so no harm. I still think I'll be listening to more than I delete.

Was just gonna say I'm delighted with this. Really want then to cover more non football/GAA/rugby.

And also to bring back Parker & Lovejoooooooy. (Sort of. Bring back some predictions on a Friday & the Minder theme tune. That'll do.)

To be fair rowing is only a small part of Gavan Hennigan's story.

I'm not a huge fan of Rugby or GAA so I'm delighted for a change in topic.

A really great interview with Gavan Hennigan - what a story

Yeah. Excellent start. Exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for.

    "Rowing really?''

    "Oh go on then."

"Wow, this is actually really interesting."

Not sure about the two interviewers format though. Didn't think it worked on Radio 1 over the summer either. With more podcasts each week it might work better if they each did all the research for one on one interviews.

Great interview to start things off with.

Few interesting bits of information in this article. Suggests contract with IT had come to an end, also states that Patreon take 5% off the top of the total income stream.

Loved todays interview, great start to this new venture.

The one thing I miss from the OTB days is you never get anymore niche items like that, I like their GAA/Rugby coverage but it's very predictable at this stage, you'd never finish one of their pods and think 'Wow, I'd never heard of that' really enjoyed that interview, hopefully they will have more like it in the future.

The story Ken told last week about switching off the Superbowl and missing the comeback because he decided to watch an interview with a 84 year man talking about his attitude to gay people in the military was gold.

I miss plenty more than that; the absence of Ken watching live sport in the studio and the reaction, often hilarious, to that. The fact that Ken I don't believe has been at a single premier league game this season while with NT/OTB he was providing commentary for them so had to attend and take in more than at home on the sofa.

I take your point but there is more missing from second captains when comparing to OTB than just the thing you mentioned.

The Patreon billing cycle looks to be set for the first of each month.
So, if I was to begin paying today does that mean my first payment is only good for podcasts put out until the end of this month?

The confirmation email from Patreon after you sign up states the following:
No charge has been placed yet. You've pledged to a "per month" page and will be charged on the 1st of next month.

So my understanding is that February is free.

That would mean though that the first month is always free when you sign up to a podcast on Patreon  ... maybe someone else will be able to confirm that

Would be funny if he admitted what he was really watching at 3am. "Well Eoin, I watched a video of ladyboys peeing on each other on xhamster"

Listened to the first podcast there. Thought it was great, reminiscent of the otb days. Not just sticking to the story they came in to tell. I thought it was a great start

Ken has previously admitted that he wasn't at a lot of those games he used to commentate on, he was often just watching a live feed in a studio provided to NT as a broadcast rights holder.

Oh yeah? Didn't know that. He was certainly at plenty of games because he would tweet or talk about his misadventures when travelling to different grounds and cities.

Really? Never knew that before, was the main commentator at the game or beside Ken in Studio?

Ken was the commentator if I remember.

Do they have the terrible pre-recorded filler "mixes" on the paid for podcasts? I wouldn't pay for anything with those annoying prerecords played at intervals during the podcast, espcially if it's the same ones everyday. If you are at the gym or listening on your phone they are impossible to skip at worst and a complete pain to skip at best e.g. if you are listening on Itunes on PC. If they want a break during recording then just take one, no need for the prerecords to "Link" it all up.

Musical interludes are used across pretty much all forms of aural media.. Plus the second captains ones are brilliantly conceived and put together.

you'll be in the minority whinging about that I'd expect (or hope at least)

I've seen it all now. I love them and even catch myself "singing along" to the commentary! An integral part of all shows.

The only one that grates is the new long Best Of. Although with voice control on my phone it's easy to skip ahead 2 minutes, don't even have to take my phone out of my pocket.
