In the colleges they are not allowed to speak one word of English so when they meet up with their friends Im sure they have better things to talk about in Spanish than slagg people off.
Explain the pointing at fat women and *shouting* "Ella tiene un culo gordo". Explain the calling over of "waitresses" (table cleaners) in McDonalds or Burgerking only to start pointing and laughing at them when they come over.

In fact, I've never seen so many people from any one culture doing so much pointing and laughing. Maybe it's a national sport like bullfighting.

The only thing good about them is that about 25% of their women are hot.

And don't get me started about the used-condom trail* they leave behind them where I live....

    * I suppose they're to be commended for practicing safe sex at least - pity about their hygiene.

I have to agree with jammy_dodger on the whole net cafe thing. Jesus Christ, I know a few Spanish students that were over during the year studying english in secondry schools and they were very nice and polite. But this batch that i've being dealing with over the past couple of weeks are the most ignorant f*cks. FFs, we have a strict rule in our cafe about no smoking in the building, one of the kids that came up (must have being about 12 years old) asked me could he smoke in the building and i said that no he couldn't it's a non-smoking building. 5 mins later i could smell smoke, walked downstairs, there he was smoking away, and of course i kicked him out, but maybe he was just an ignorant git.

woops wasn't finished :P, anywho i've noticed they install all sorts of weird crap, the guys, almost everyone of em, i've found looking up porn etc... will finish this later, work to do, lound people to shut up etc..

No you're not but you are the first person to come on here and write off a entire group of people purely for ridiculous reasons (such as being 'too great in number' or for being 'too loud') and then still expect to be taken seriously. If you had described some personal run in with them (as most of the subsequent posters did) then I might have taken your case seriously but all your initial points are just wish-wash that you could have picked up from reading a newspaper.

hmm is that so very strange? I've seen this in inet cafe's all around europe from holiday makers. I know it aint nice for other people but iys not exclusive to Spanish students in ireland .

For the poster who pointed out my typo, i do apologise for being foreign and being in a hurry to get to the pub. (was tempted to post something about u prob not knowing what the inside of one looked like but instead i just wrote this)

That's your boss's fault for letting everyone one have administrative/power user rights.

I live in athlone, and untill about 3 years ago my Family lived in the housing estate that they all stay in while they are here (all 1000 of them), everyday of the summer I was in contact with them between going down to the park for a game of ball and going to the shop for a can of coke or what not, I have always found 99% of them to be very friendly, well mannered and polite in general.

Yeah they are loud, but you have to remember that spainish people are loud in general and that they are all aged between 13 and 19.

Also, Lego did a fair bit of whinging about them coming into the net cafe he works in, but I wouldn't listen to him because he is an impatient moody little fu*ker anyway.

Some of them are thight at the best of times... this is true... but then again, they are hardly your saterday night youth disco mingers are they? I mean, you should be happy that you pulled siomeone that usually makes your ex-girlfriend look like your dogs arse no matter how far you get.

Tambien no significa esa frase nunca si puedo recoger mi espanol. (féck my LC spanish is nearly gone)

Pigman, Bien jugado con la mujer gorda :)

Tbh I've seen them hanging around in stillorgan (dublin for j00 culchies :)) on corners and it really does annoy me. They are loud and obnoxious. It does me head in to hear them ranting at the top of their voices. I know its common place in Spain but here its not really necessary here. If they could take it down a few (hundred) notches they wouldn't bother me as much. :(

remember the last time i was in the savoy cinema and we went into watch big fat greek wedding i think it was, i knew it was gonna be bad when we were walking in and there was like 50 spanish student type folk in before us.. They talked consistantly through the whole movie, even after i had asked them to shut up (i dont goto the cinema to listen to ppl talk in spanish thx..) ... rude dosent even come to mind when i think about this, Ive always found the ones in town to be rude aswell (sitting on my sisters bag in cafe kylemore then throwing it on the ground, ive never had to drag my sister away from giving someone a beating like that...), same in burger king when they felt the need to all start sitting at me and me brothers table while talking in that 'shouting' thing that you speak of...

I wouldnt go as far as to say i dont like them, but to say they are ignorant pricks is a understatement

At least they are not hanging around drinking and fighting like Irish groups of teenagers.

i dont know where u look but ive seen them fight a fair bit and with a lot of irish ppl also not saying its there fault but its not totaly r's.

ive been to spain a good few times stay in spanish houses etc... and got to see them when there at home loud is just the way of life its what ive seen part of learning to speak . to try and be louder then the others in order to get somthn ... everyone over there was loud ... also when i was over there they didnt seem to treat girls as well as we would do over in ireland maby its a cultural thing but just somthn i notised

spanish students are known everywhere to steal like no tomorro( even in spain) and for no reason they dont need the stuff or anything they just like to steal . some irish ppl do this also but not on the scale they do.

as for 30-50 of them cloggin up the streats and pubs i have seen some ppl gather in various places that are not spanish . lets for a laugh call these ppl cloggin up the area boards.ie and lets say they were in the white horse pub . if i was a regular i would of been annoyed at these ppl taking over my pub and bing loud and talking in there own computer language like comeon ( thankfully im a boards.ie geek and never had this problom )

my goodness thats probably the reason why every single shop in town has security guards..oh no that was before the spanish invasion right ?

    OI!!!

I have enough genuine prejudices of my own without you assuming the right to attribute new ones to me.

I like Spanish people. We have had Spanish students staying with us and they were all without exception charming, obliging, respectable, friendly, well behaved and generally delightful people. OK a little loud, but no more so than many people's kids.

However, tell me which Web cafe you work in and I will guarantee to steer any new ones we may host in the future to your competitors.

And on a general point: it must be nearly 10 years since David Hanly (who appears in the dictionary beside the definition of curmudgeonly old fart) wrote a diatribe in the Sunday Tribune similar in sentiment, though generally better worded, to many of the posts here. Is one of you the real David Hanly, or are you all just wannabe grumpy old gits before your time?

I'm working in my old college in Tipperary and they are doing some English course here. It's possible to hear them in every room I go into, from one end of the campus to the next. They're very loud but they're grand. I guess they're loud because of some cultural reasons but I wouldn't know, I'm just going on what ye guys are saying. I don't understand Spanish but when they speak English it's usually all polite and spoken with a nice smile.

Nice people, they've never bothered me and they've had more than enough chances to. They're just loud but that's OK because they're young and on a sort of holiday (not much of one with this weather I know) and what do you expect? As for hanging around in groups, they don't know the country and don't speak the language too well, wouldn't you hang around with your friends if you were in their shoes?

Theres a few outside my house right now, and by that I mean outside my door, screeching to each other. As I write this I inch ever more closer to cracking one of them over the head for being stupid to think that this is the house they're staying in!!!!!

    IDIOTS!
