    Hi Folks

We just caught our 9 month old kitten in a restricted part of the house (to him) chewing on an aloe plant but not swallowing it. I have read that it is toxic to cats and am wondering if I should be worried?

    Thanks,
    Jenn

Phone your vet, Aloe is toxic for cats

    Hope he's ok.

Already phoned vets an hour ago - they were supposed to get back to me.

Call them back. Tell them Aloe is toxic and you need urgent advice. Tell them you have a kitten, not an adult cat.

    Good luck

Called them back - was told not to worry as long as he didn't take much of it and that he would had to have taken a fair chunk do do any damage.

Good. They told you what to look out for? Vomiting/diarrhoea/seizures etc? Can be from 6 to 12 hours after ingestion.

Glad they don't think they'll be any problems. I was concerned as he was a kitten and so it would need less to cause issues.

    What about Aloe juice?
I used to give it (Aloe Arborescens) to my cat on daily basis for many weeks after a long and heavy therapy and it worked fine, no troubles or damages at all.
Is juice different from the whole plant?
