American runner called Just’N Thymes. Yes, not kidding. Not the worst, but fairly comical. The parents must have been diehard track fans.

It's up there with another American runner, Autumn Fogg. :D

P.S. You can google these names if you don't believe me.

Thats a nice name but I know 2 guys called Keelan so association gives me a bias, and ironically, as per the name origin, both are very slender lads!

Walking down O'Connell Street last year, some strong Dublin accent possessing "lady" screaming "Shakira, Shakira, whaere are yaaaaaaaa"

I know a girl in her mid 20's called Shakira...I'm convinced she changed it as soon as she could, no parents were calling their kids Shakira back in the wary 90's.

Was in Liverpool recently and little Albie was running amok in the Disney store while his aul one was at the till. Staff were saying how adorable he was but you know deep down they were thinking what a little sh!t.

Also heard a Nikita the other day. I think that's the female equivalent of Warren. Nothing good is coming from that child.

For me it's a girl's name! I have come across one or two Keelins, so in my head it's a girl's name, though I know it can be used for boys too. And the Keelins/Keelans I've come across are mostly from ultra-chavvy families so for me it's tainted... :p:o

    Albie......Albert?

There was a Nikita on that Tallafornia show, she is in her late 20s I would imagine. By association with her, that name is now well and truly tarred for me.

I worked with a Nikita in her mid twenties. I would always add the word 'Banana' whenever I heard her name.

You know when there's a gang of young scumbags who hang around an estate and there's always one girl with them. She's plastered in make up, dressed inappropriately and has 3 kids for 3 of the scumbags by the time she hits 20...that's Nikita.

Nikita is actually more commonly used as a male name. One of Russia (S.U.) most prominent Cold War leaders had the name.
He dressed smartly, no make up, 5 kids but hung around with a bunch of scumbag corrupt Russian politicians.

I heard a woman roaring at her child to come back when she was skating off on her scooter, "Sophia Lily! Sophia Lily come back!"

Lovely name, actually. But do you have to call her Sophia Lily all the time? Why not just Sophie or something? Friends of mine named their first daughter Erin-Jade. I kept calling her Erin just to be corrected every time, it's Erin-Jade.

I've a fierce hankering for a citrus drink now for some reason..

There is no way I'd be calling that kid anything other than Orangeade.

You call your child a name like that, you deal with the consequences.

People spelling their name or parents who spell their name a funny or stupid way,
Just spell it the usual way

    Muppets

how do you mean? Do you mean spelling their birth name differently later on in life or altering the spelling of an existing name and christening your child said "new version" Your name is your name? 99% of names derive from another spelling origin.

I mean, give us an example of said muppetry

Most names evolve over time, spelling wise over time. Do we stop the trend now?

I was never mad about the name Eric but for a girl I like the feminine form...

Sorry, but that's a perfectly valid way to pronounce it. It's an Irish name, and that's typically the way it's pronounced in Irish. If anything Col-um is less correct. :)

Some people name their children after two people, ie both grandparents for example. Is Mary-Anne an obnoxious name? John-Paul?

    John-Paul = conceived in 78/79

No doubt by people who voted for the 8th amendment in 1983 and against divorce in 1986. You know the type.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Seriously, something like John-Paul, you think its obnoxious to use the full "two syllable" version! Come on! Most John-Pauls in Ireland were named after the pope! I know the Catholic Church is an obnoxious Institution but that name couldn't be any less obnoxious! At the end of the day, it is their name and they spent their life calling them such! They are hardly going to have a shorter version on the tip of their tongue for public occasions!

You don't stop and think of your sons name before you utter it, it naturally is on the tip of your tongue! I understand ridiculous names but a simple combination of two names when christening your child, many of which have evolved into distinct names themselves over time: Sarah-Jane, Lizanne, etc is hardly breaking the obnoxious bank!

At the end of the day, your name is your name! There are some f'ed embarrassing names out there, some child abuse offences! But I don't think a Sophia-Lily should be in that bracket! Jer name isn't Sophia, her name is Sophia-Lily!

Sorry, don't want to rant but that is an example of faux outrage!

It is when you shout it out all day long over and over and make a point about it. I'm named after two grand parents but I only go by one name. The others on my passport but I never use it. There are parents literally screaming out both names at kids in stores over and over and correcting people and making a point about it. Get over yourself.

They keep correcting people and making a point about it because you keep saying the incorrect name. If you just say the correct name they won't have to correct you.
