Ethiad Dublin Abu Dhabi 10 Feb

Hi folks. I had relatives on yesterday mornings flight out from Dublin. They diverted to a military base near Abu Dhabi and had all of their luggage siezed under "bond?" and searched. Told nothing and then put on a bus and shipped to the main airport with zero explanation as to what happened.

Any ideas why the aircraft was diverted?

That military base is much closer to Dubai than Abu Dhabi. Perhaps there was some sort of serious customs issue or even a terrorist threat which forced them to divert there.

That's it. They said they were told nothing. Not exactly young and we're quite rattled by the whole thing.
