Once someone with insurance and fine is paid one can drive on.

Does anyone know what happens to the cars? Are most reclaimed, are they crushed, can they be sold on by the State?

If they are unclaimed they are crushed, I worked with a recovery company who collected seized vehicles, some were in mint condition.

I witnessed them going into the crusher, in some cases to say I wanted to cry at the sight of it would be an understatement.

The one that caught my eye the most was a Ford Racing Puma, mother of god I wanted to buy it, I was told no :(

Near me, some of them get dropped to the fire station for them to practice cutting roofs, dealing with rollovers, putting out fires etc.

The local fire station here is similar, with old cars, i'm unsure as to where they get them though.

The Traffic Corp division don't deal with general anti social behavior unless it takes place on the roads.

By that logic non traffic corps Gardas shouldn't be doing checkpoints.

In theory, all Gardaí can deal with any law breach. It's just that where the town troublemakers do their stuff wouldn't be Traffic Corps stomping ground.

Time to call halt to this thread I think. It's like an extension to the Garda press office.

LIGHTNING disagreed with a similar request a while back.

Half the problem is we are awaiting twitter updates so debates take place in their absence, which in moderation isn't a bad thing either.

Or people like you could stop posting snide remarks in relation to the pay rise and supposed increased activity.

I think it's time (even though i hate the idea) to impost a no chat rule. This thread is consistently being ruined by off topic nonsense , i am as guilty as the next poster.

Good few more then those. Probably depends who is on also.

I would love to see them post up cars being crushed or used for training.

Good decent cars should be auctioned off would be a steal...

But that one has that lovely effect of opposing headlight and fog light out, so that you think the car is up on 2 wheels or there's serious road camber ahead.
