Brennan would probably make the Derry game if it was fixed for New York . Some of them lads have unbelievable commitment

Let's hope they will be planning another day out in Croker on the trip north Saturday night

First ten minutes of second half the same as the first half was and this game will be done.
    Ballyea in total control.

Well done to Ballyea, delighted for them.

I didn't get the chance to watch the game, but I heard Deasy hit 1-11. Is that right?

fantastic night in thurles , yes it almost unraveled near the end but that should be credit to st thomas's for keeping the pressure on

the ballyea backs were superb for 50 minutes , and to be fair they were wining the bulk of 50/50's and breaking balls out the field for that same period of time , legs got tired and momentum switched from then on lads droppiing balls , tired passing they had everything given by that stage

while everyone will praise the likes of kelly espically for his insurance point at the end , the work rate of cathal doohan , joe neylon , james murphy and stan lineen were excellent again today , there work rate is one of the main keys to success over the past 10 months

the inside forwards did not click today , an awful lot of ball was quickly returned out the field by the thomas's defenders , felt sorry for damien burke never really got going , lillis and pajo connelly worked hard the latter was far more effective when brought out the field , garry brennan also found it hard to get on top of his man

deasy was sensational today again , winning crucial puck outs along with his contribution on the score board , he as i have said in the past been superb over the last number of years for ballyea i doubt he will be over looked by gerry or donal after paddys day

I think Gudgie too could get a start in the backs. A bit like Oisin O'Brien last year, you sometimes cant go wrong in picking sticky, aggresive backs that know how to tackle properly.

i know joe neylon is off the cuff but he has been brilliant since day one , i dont care i think he deserves some sort of a look in ,

if i had one negative about gudgie today was his distribution at times other then that he was fine

Great summary, far more insightful than I could've given.

Big negative for me today was crowd of youngsters (must've been 30/40+ of them) who sang "DC is on fire" during national anthem and who jeered loudly during St Thomas free taking.

I'm not from Ballyea, but as a hurling mad GAA Clarewoman I'm delighted to support them past few games. I recognised two of the young lads, and they are also not from Ballyea. I doubt they are the types of supporters Ballyea would like to see joining the bandwagon.

It didn't take away from the gallant players or game but it was disappointing nonetheless.

Yeah I also saw a young fella with a Pakistan flag..... still can't figure that one out

You will always get that at club championship games especially at this stage . If it is cula they meet in the final they will be well matched ..there supporters are known for doing that Icelandic hand clap through out games . It would remind you of a schools rugby game

Whatever about the anthem though they should have shown far more respect to Connor Cooney when he was taken his frees . I don't think anyone from Galway were trying to put nial deasy off in fairness

But the bandwagon will get bigger and there will be more young lads claiming to be from ballyea come paddy day .but Like yourself I believe soccer chants don't add anything to a hurling match

Just watched the game there on youtube. Really agree with this^^^^.

I think its beyond doubt Donal is going to give him a try now at senior, I hope he can make the step up. He is exactly the type of player we need to break through. We have tonnes of small scoring forwards. Badly need a guy to can win ball, break the tackle and lay the ball off.

footballers travel to derry this afternoon , slightly depleted side with kevin hartnet and cathal o'connor out with injury , pearse lillis is only joining up with the panel today after concentrating on hurling duties with ballyea , gary brennan will line out despite playing less then 24 hours ago in thurles , its a strong looking forward line , with david tubridy operating on the 40 , but the 3 players out today are a big loss

not an impossible task to get a win in celtic park but if i do worry over preparations over the last month or so with several players on the panel tied up with the hurling , i hope i am wrong in saying we might have to wait until next week to get win number one on the board

highlights of todays game will be shown on tg4 tomorrow night

    Derry 0-11 Clare 1-08

disappointing not to hold out for the win , late derry score by james kielt to tie it up in the end , good to see a number of young lads hold there own at this level , possibly one of the toughest tests passed today shame we couldnt hold on but a win against down very much within our range next sunday in the park

scorers from the first round from the footballers league opener , while we had 3 players out , also had 3 returning to the panel two of which scored in liam markham and ciaren russell , the panel was also boosted with the addition of a number of players from the 21 panel so hopefully there is something to build on over the next few weeks

    L Markham (0-1),
    S Collins (0-1)
    D Tubridy (0-1)
    C Russell (0-2);
    E Cleary (0-3f)
    J Malone (1-0),

He was also on the line for the Munster Schools A Football Semi-Final between Flannans and the St Brendans Killarney on Saturday - Throw-in was 1 in Rathkeale. [Brendans won]

Seems like we're going to be without one of our big names for the foreseeable future.

It's a disciplinary thing. Allegedly regarding a star midfielder who isn't Tony Kelly.

yeah not going naming names either but when the panel is named tomorrow night he will be the obvious one missing , rumor is he is injured though so lets not jump the gun just yet ;)

Rumour isn't he's injured. Rumour is something else entirely.

The rumour is accurate, but it is unlikely to see print. Not that it's so scandalous but there is nothing to gain from spreading it either.

Read these posts earlier and went off to a source of mine. **** me, that's pretty big news if true.

I suppose while were waiting for team news tonight, a highlight reel of Conor McGrath was put up on facebook there during the week.

    https://www.facebook.com/mauricewalshphotography/videos/1179088825545380/

Hard to believe he is only 25 years old. I think it's fair to say that despite still being young he is one of the best forwards we have produced. He has outrageous skill and vision, but I think it's his movement and ability to evade the defender is what makes him a special player. Just love the way he can create that half yard and pop it over the blackspot from 60m.
