last game in this competition giving cork a walk over due to players with fitzgibbon commitments , waterford made 17 changes to the initial line ups for the same reason today

roll on the league until we get a better idea as to where we are at

I know we're missing a lot of players for different reasons but you don't get challenges as good as this too often, even if some under 21s have to be called up it'd be a great opportunity.

if they win it creates a farcical situation where they will have to play cork again at the weekend and in the first round of the league though , while i would welcome the extra game or games , but the players i think along with the management were not keen on the fixture

Are Limerick out of the running in this.?
We beat Clare but were hockied by Cork.
    Scoring difference I presume.?

as far as i know if all 3 teams are level on points its sorted by scoring difference as is the league , if two teams level it comes down to head to head

limerick will be back in the final if cork win , and given the sound bites in the media as far as clare management are concerned it probably is the likely outcome anyway

    clare 0-15 - 0-19 cork

cork pull away in the last 20 minutes to win comfortable enough in a poor game . clare were aided with a strong wind in the first half but only led by 1 point at half time 0-9 to 0-8 , bobby duggen had a late chance to bring the game back to a point but the 21 meter free was saved

while it was a bad night for hurling the sharpness has not improved in the first few games of the new year and while we are missing several first team players it would be nice to see a few put there hand up on the extended panel , we lacked a bit of fire power tonight

going forward , cork with a slightly stronger team will await in the first round of the league in paric ui rinn in 3 weeks time a win will be vital to get the campaign off to a good start but a lot of work remains

Still making stupid choices on the ball, don't know if this is a hangover from the last few years but it's not great to see us lose possession so easy.

lack of composure on the ball and in front of goal the discipline dose'nt look as bad so far that will be interesting to see if that area holds up as the pace increases in the next few months

still are a little bit on the defensive side too , but look , we have serious players to come back into the side , the efforts of totts , morey and even shane golden have to be positive heading into the league though

I wouldn't worry too much at this stage, Gudgie alone will shore up the backs, my only fear is that we implemented the sweeper system to counter act our poor defence I hope we don't get caught out too badly, but to be blunt I don't care about the league, it's all about Championship this year.

And going forward next year too. Tipp proved a point last year by not entering this competition and half baked in the league . Both competitions we won . Did nothing for us in the championship .

The less is more attitude is probably the way forward but with fickle supporters how would a bad league be seen by some

What sort of a team are we looking at for the first round of the league? Maybe something along the lines of:

    Kelly
    O'Brien Dillon Morey
    Fitz Cleary Bugler
    Galvin Golden
    Conlon Podge P. Duggan
    Reidy(f) Shanagher Cunningham

There's a good few starters out at the moment between the Ballyea lads and the likes of McGrath, McInerney, O'Donnell and O'Connor. Seems like we have a bit of ground to make up for the game in 2 weeks, but nothing to worry about yet I suppose.

Will Gary Brennan be playing for the footballers against Derry or is he concentrating on Ballyea next weekend?

If I'm not mistaken, hurling is on Sat, football on Sunday 18 hrs later or so. Be very surprised to see him anywhere near football I think.

I think all involved with Ballyea are exempt from inter county duties until they are knocked out

clare 1-12 0-12 limerick , peter mcnulty cup final

good win for the u21 footballers , while it might be only a preseason competition it is a step in the right direction , big ask to win a minefield like the munster championship where kerry tipperary and cork will all be strong , but good work underage none the less

    scorers

    conor finucane 0-9 1f
    eimihin courtney 0-3
    joe mcgann 1-0

very important we fix the full and half back possitions over the league , not a fan of cleary at half back , bugler probably should be rotated more , golden deserves his place but on the basis of the munster league the two boys from shannon would want to show more if they start

Fair play to the under 21 footballers, you can only play what's in front of you. It reminds me I got a coal and gas delivery this week and was speaking with Colin Lynch, his club was always Lissycasey and I got the impression that the only reason Eire Og was listed was outside his control.

I thought he actually had played with Eire Og, as well as Kilmayley as Lissycasey don't have a hurling team.
Lissycasey would still have been his "home" club but his hurling club was one of the others.

He won a senior and junior medal with Eire Og in 1 year and was introduced to the crown last year as part of the jubilee team. I think he played for Ballyea as well at underage.

Players normally have their home club listed as that's their club, any other team is a representational thing.

tipps results in this didn't appear to be so good in the brief notice I took of other results.
Is the hurling football policy liam cahill went with starting to bite I wonder?

I wouldn't expect there'd be anything happening if they win, it's only a semi final, they've just over a month for the biggest game of a lot of their lives.
