ok, I got a dreambox from a friend and i don't have a clue what it does or how to use it - i'm not looking for instructions or using it for dodgy reasons.

    It's a DM800 HD PVR.

    Do I / Can I :

    1. Use it in conjunction with or as an addition to the Sky Q box in main sitting room?

    2. Use it as a FTA device on a second TV that doesn't have a sky box attached but does have cable from the Satellite Dish?

    3. Use it as a FTA box with a PC and Monitor?

    4. Give away / Sell it on?

Based on specs there is no reason you cannot use it as a FTA receiver with record functions.
Depending on the tuner fitted it will do Satellite or Terrestrial reception, or maybe both if both fitted (I don't know how many tuners are possible).

just a quick look on google
if its a DM800 HD PVR. there does not appear to be any HDMI out on that model just scart & dvi
so picture quality may ( may not ) be an issue depends on your telly

there is it appears to be a later model It's a DM800 HD SE PVR. which has HDMI out

I would go with option 2 a FTA device for a second tv

I have one and it came with a DVI to HDMI cable which sends video and audio to the TV via HDMI.

OP, you can do any of those things with it.
